Melee
Hello! II just got my Netduma r1 on Wednesday and I love it. I live in phx and play destiny pvp exclusively. My results have been fantastic so far except for one (potentially minor) issue. My router thinks my good friend who lives in Montana... Lives in Los Angeles. When I pull him up on the geo filter he shows up in southern California everytime. I don't know that that is a huge issue, but who knows who else is spread across the country and being misidentified as living in the LA area. Anyone experienced this as well? Any tricks I should know? Thanks!

He's the only one of my friends mislocated incorrectly so it can't be a widely spread issue. It will make no impact in your or his games.
Netduma Staff Netduma Crossy Posted June 10, 2016 Netduma Staff Share Posted June 10, 2016 Hey, welcome to the forum Post his ID (found on the GeoFilter) in here and where he should be located.
Melee
Thanks for your reply Urge. My issue isn't with my friend. It's the fact that we all bought this wonderful tech to weed out playing people outside of a certain proximity. However it seems people are accidentally circumventing the system. Usually when I play control in destiny with the filter on, it tells me more than half of the people I'm playing with or against are in the greater LA area. But realistically, they could be anywhere. Like my friend in Montana. I don't expect perfection and I'm not upset or anything. I was just curious if other people had this issue, and if not I'd like to bring it to light so that maybe the developers can fix it in the future
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted June 12, 2016 Administrators Share Posted June 12, 2016 Hey, welcome to the forum! As said before he's just mislocated and you can provide us the ID to move him. Just allow him and it won't be an issue. Make sure you don't have PA on. Destiny uses a P2P/Dedicated hybrid system. In some cases if you can't connect to a player they will connect through a dedicated server so they can connect to you. You still get the advantage in this scenario though
nytemare01
Is there a way that I can find my own ID?I've played with a few people before with a Duma and they say my location is way off and that they would let you know but apparently they didn't. I live in Augusta, GA but they say I'm showing up in Kansas
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted June 16, 2016 Administrators Share Posted June 16, 2016 No way to find your own ID, I believe yours is 3549511ce6d40f14. Ask your friends what it is and post back here.

Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted June 20, 2016 Administrators Share Posted June 20, 2016 It looks as though you have a dynamic IP, have they mentioned if your location changes as well?
nytemare01
No they didn't. Does my dynamic ip have a negative impact?
Netduma Staff Netduma Jack Posted June 21, 2016 Netduma Staff Share Posted June 21, 2016 It won't have a negative impact; every time your ID changes, your friends will have to add you to their allow list again.
A7Legit
My ISP is the cause of my location being seen as somewhere different on other Australian Netduma geofilter maps. They route through the middle of Australia, whilst I'm in South Eastern Australia, Black Ops 3 for example states my IP address as being in the middle of the country as stated above however an IP lookup will show I'm nearby to my actual location (I change me IPs purposely to hide my real location).
