Limagreen
Which do you think is the better connection to have for on line gaming. Particularly Black ops 3. I have heard that you get lower latency with High speed DSL, and that Cable suffers from higher latency. Any one had a chance to test both, or know of the technical characteristics, that would favor one over the other?
SM961
After 6+ years of cable I finally switched to DSL Uverse and I couldn't be happier, I mean jitter on cable is crazy now on cable my ping was 9 to 10 on dsl is a little bit high 20+. On cable I could never get A+ on bufferbloat, with dsl is constant A+.
Limagreen
Cool thanks. I will move to DSL. Hopefully this will get me a better result than cable.
ColonicBoom
As far as I'm aware, you're always better not using cable (I have cable), unless your alternative is carrier pigeon.
Dillinger
If the question is merely A versus B - Then I would have to say you will PROBABLY find that a DSL, or the new VDSL version that I just found out about and is available all over, is going to be a "cleaner" choice because of the architecture of how they operate. I have a poor quality Cable line that is just fine for the rest of the household needs. I just recently had a dedicated gaming line put into my new Command Center (ha ha) and the ping plotter tests on the new line have been night and day difference. I played several hours of Black Ops 3 as a solo player this weekend (2x Weapon XP sweat-Fest) without the benefit of the Duma and I would say my overall enjoyment was definitely at a higher point than I can remember with this game on the new VDSL
Zennon
Jitter is a big issue with cable. Jitter destroys games for the user and the player playing against said user.
Limagreen
Thanks for all the information. I have changed over to DSL now and found a big improvement in my gaming experience. DSL with the NETDUMA is a winner for sure.

fuzzy clam
IMO no comparison DSL is so much more stable both thru the feel test and documentation by ping plotter. I use the DSL for a dedicated gaming line and cable for the rest of the house. And we should have gigapower in our neighborhood this fall and yeah I will be all over that shit...
