Fazor
So my brother has been telling me to get a SSD. I have a 2TB external drive for storage already, but would use the SSD for BO3 for increased speed. Really the only game we play is multiplayer COD. Would this really make a difference or give me any advantage? Or would it just shave a few seconds off of loading times and not affect gameplay at all? Thanks. Think it will probably help loading times and that's it,I saw a few videos where it took around 40 seconds off loading times in GTA5 and that's all it did,it won't improve connection I wouldn't think as black ops 3 is broken anyway
ziocomposite
No need for SSD at all as the benefits are minimal(loading), pricey, and non-advantageous. The external is fine as is I have no games/apps installed on the internal at all which should hopefully keep it running as quick as possible. The difference in minimal since the Xbox one uses a Sata 2 connector inside. It honestly wouldn't make much of a difference. Find a really good external 7200 usb 3.0 drive and it will help just as much as an expensive ssd will. I use this drive and it helped on my X1 with loading times, now I took it out of the enclosure and installed it in my ps4.
Zennon
For a PC or laptop I would say yes it makes a hell of a difference but for a console it is not worth the hassle as all you will be doing is waiting for everyone else to load in anyhow. Fazor
That video was the same one he sent me...I didn't get much out of the video. Zennon, that's what I was thinking...having to wait for the others to load in BO3 anyway. He does always start the games before me though. Like he will always see the countdown before the match, and sometimes I don't get in until 5 seconds after the game starts. But that isn't consistent and I don't understand why that would be? ziocomposite
So do you guys live together or play remotely in the same area? That timer may be due to location of server along with Internet usage. While yes, SSD may help(loading) however is non advantageous in multiplayer.
Fazor
We live 30 minutes away from each other. Both have the same TWC internet....30 down 5 up.

Use the drive that I linked in my previous post and you will get into the game at 15 seconds every time. I used it on my Xbox one and now I'm using it on my PS4 and I am in the games before everyone else. It doesn't do much though whether you join at 15 seconds or 1 second tbh. UK_Wildcats_Fans
I upgraded my PS4 to a 1TB hybrid. Mostly did this for the extra hard drive space and small improvement on map loading for BO3. After making the change, I noticed about a 5-10 second improvement on loading maps in the beginning of the game. This was a great help since I was getting into games with just 1-3 seconds left on the count down. Sometimes I would get in after others. Now I am almost the first person in the game with plenty of time.
cranium2001
My elite xbox has the SSD and it loads up much quicker than my other one that doesn't have it. That's about the only advantage I notice but I think it's nice to have. I don't see it affecting gameplay whatsoever.
Fazor
This may be a dumb question, but does anyone know why the time you enter the game is variable? Like why do I get in late sometimes, and other times I see the full countdown? Hard drive speeds don't change, so what does?

Like why do I get in late sometimes, and other times I see the full countdown? Hard drive speeds don't change, so what does? Hard drives don't change speed (bandwidth; ping), but they speed the amount of time it takes to load the game assets (maps, weapons, props, etc.) into RAM. Once everything is loaded, your console then sends that message to the server that you are ready. So, having a faster hard drive means being able to physically be in a "ready" state faster than those who do not.
Fazor
Right, but since I have the same hard drive, why don't I always start the match with the same amount of time left on the countdown? Sometimes I wait from 15 , and sometimes it's 3, and sometimes the game has already started. Why does that change?
Zennon
You are picking your load out while its counting down.
Fazor
Doesn't take me more than a second to choose my first or second class...which is primarily all I use. The times are still variable. Zennon, are you saying that you are always in before the timer counts down?

Zennon, are you saying that you are always in before the timer counts down?Often times I'm already heading towards bate when a couple guys in my parry are still waiting to be given the option to choose their class. I'm not sure if it's because I have a better connection or they have a worse one. Usually when that happens the game plays like shit for them.
