I currently have the netgear nighthawk XR700 which I recently found out it’s and it’s end of cycle period so it will no longer be receiving firmware updates from netgear. I also have a XR1000v2 but for some reason my “ping test (under load)” always fails miserably!! My regular ping is always a 12 but under load the V2 skyrockets to around 90 but the XR700 is always a A+ result under load. So needless to say I’m in the market for a new gaming router and I LOVE the DumaOS operating system with the limitless customization for gaming. I found the R3 and was getting ready to submit my order with their summer discount and then i noticed it’s only a 1gb WAN. I have 5gig up and down fiber internet and if I’m gonna upgrade routers then I want one that supports at least 2gig speed. HOPEFULLY the R3 pro or R4 will come SOON and it’ll support 2gig speed. There’s literally not a single router in existence that has the DumaOS system and supports 2gig speed except the XR700 that I have but I only have 1 Ethernet port on my PC so unless I wanna add a dual port Ethernet PCIE card I can’t even use the 2gig port aggregation on the router.

I was reading a post @Netduma Frasermade in early access about not being a hardware company and mentioning latest in tech and limited funding. If you had just a base router with no Wi-Fi (AP's needed) or RGB lighting, you could potentially free up some funds for things like more RAM in the unit that would greatly increase the performance and give the devs a little more headroom for additional features. Just a thought, I think most R3 users probably don't even use the Wi-Fi on the R3.

Same here. Doesnt matter if i try accesing the router from my pc browser or phone browser, the phone app also gives "Unknown error occured" when i try to log in. I always get that screen, i reboot the router then it works, but only for a couple of hours maybe one day max, then the problem comes back.. Getting sick of having to reboot the router everytime i want to log in to see or change anything.. I also did factory reset after the update.. In the upper right corner at the exclamation mark where it says" Some Router features are not running" sometimes i get "Telemetry" sometimes "---". Also the system log spams "Time went backwards" continously every couple of seconds. I did set the right timezone tho. Beside the geofilter, the smartboost tab also doesnt show anything, it gives the tutorial popup to "To get started, press + blablabla".. How am i supossed to know that the router does what its supposed to do if the settings dont even show untill i reboot then? xD

Disable Geo latency and set ping assist to 0.  Honestly take off steady ping it'll add ~10ms to try to buffer out any spikes, making your overall latency higher. Make sure you've got strict mode enabled and fast search off. Use simple mode to make a small radius around your intended server (custom is kinda glitchy) and you should be able to connect to that server consistently. Now sometimes it'll take longer to get into a game because you're trying to force that server but that's normal.

Nope they sell a router, that in its own right is a router company but they have not progressed and since the R3 struggles with memory and we see posts asking for reboot schedules tells you there is an issue. They simply don’t have the interest or income on that to compete.
It’s still relies on web cache which also went out years ago, it’s really dated now and the only unique item is geo filtering. As for WiFi 6 I can’t see a single statement of what subsets it supports, nothing mentioned which is unique in its self. I’ve also never seen a security update which is rather unique too. Does it support OFDMA, TwT, PMF, BSS Coloring, who knows because nothing is mentioned.
I think their future is services rather than routers and with QoE which they clearly show you can tell the direction they are moving which I think is the right way. Why waste money on hardware when there are more viable options that involve a greater aspect of networking compared to a small number of end users playing COD which is their core audience. Times are changing, even my ex MP has moved into QoE.

Just received my r3 today and I'm very impressed..over the years I've tried so much routers and tweaks to optimize my call of duty experience but nothing never worked properly but this r3 is an absolute game changer I absolutely love it

LOL, Theirs other links that 404'd too, but hey if you guys need a volunteer or something let me know, been in the tech field for over 16+ years

I love this router and what your trying to do with it, we want to help you iron out the basic stabilities so anything we can do, even very spefic tweaking or messing around with that or that to 'cause issue here or there' let us know, I have a LOT of testing experience.

We actually updated the Wiki overall but no that page is no longer available - there really isn't any point as we weren't keeping up with it, I think the last time I looked at it the last updated month was June.

I agree with the RAM part, I know the R3 struggles with memory optimization since they need it due to lack of physical memory. But I honestly could care less about the Wi-Fi, especially standards past Wi-Fi 6 as most devices haven't broken past that either. Honestly if they could have dropped in a gig of physical ram, added a 2.5Gb wan port or at least aggregation, more LAN ports and a better 3 channel Wi-Fi setup they'd have an absolute beast. But I also understand they're a small company and looking to sell as many units with the best profit (cost/retail). If they built a bigger better unit and sold it for a lot more, not as many people would be able to afford it and they wouldn't reach the profits they'd need to continue what the they do. Maybe in the future we can convince them to maybe launch 2 in series as maybe an R4 and an R4 pro (or whatever you'd call the big brother) and rely on the smaller more affordable unit for profit needs and the bigger model for flex (you know show people what they can really do) and maybe also so they can see there's still a big market for pricey network equipment.

I think he's talking about the Flower offered on DumaOS 3.0 and earlier, with the disabling of total bandwidth sharing per device. This feature is not present on DumaOS 4.0 because the new QoS engine (SmartBoost), does it instinctively! But indeed, it is still possible to reserve a minimum bandwidth for each device/app but not an absolute bandwidth/device!

It would be nice if we could have a different geo-fence for each device we add. That way when multiple people are playing different games simultaneously we can isolate the desired servers for each device.

If you have geo-latency and ping assist or fast search enabled them yes. Try clicking on the 3 dots in geo and go into settings. Turn off geo-latency, make sure ping assist is at 0 and make sure fast search is off. Should only contact to servers inside your geo-fence only after that.

What game are you playing? In geo filter click on the 3 dots at the top right and go into settings. Make sure geo latency is disabled and ping assist is off. If fast search is enabled, disable that. Make sure the device you're using in geo filter has filtering turned on. Also remember if you're in game and change your geo fence in custom or simple, the changes won't take effect immediately. I usually exit my game, make a change to the filter, wait a little bit, then re launch the game.

Yeah I don't get disconnects from large file downloads. Honestly I'm baffled as well as my R3 can be fully functional when we all go to bed and then not working when I wake up with no users on it (not counting random use by devices in sleep mode i.e. PS5/Xbox/phones/TVs). Doing what I mentioned above has let me use the R3 for a longer periods of time but doesn't resolve the issue. Honestly for me each beta update has improved my personal experience with this unit. Also reading the forum for tips and tricks for more responsive gameplay (i.e. bandwidth reservation) have been very beneficial. Still a great community for information and great responsive people responsible for production/development. Keep up the good work!

No not on the R3 but ipv6 from the ISP are usually icmp filtered so it's pretty garbage anyway. I'm my opinion it's not worth having until ISPs can figure a better way to not filter icmp as much as ip6 is heavily reliant on it.
