That was'nt my experience. I could see the authentication server was being blocked, its location was not fenced. I just clicked on the server and allowed it and then all was well with the world.

As has been stated many times in the forum posts we are waiting for a firmware update which should address most of the issues you mention. Expected by end of the week or early next week latest. Netduma are currently testing to make sure its good to go before releasing. The router is functioning as of 0.23 but there are issues that need to be fixed which they are aware of. I guess we just wait and have faith the guys have this in hand. I'm just glad I'm not relying on Netgear to resolve the issues. We'd be talking months or maybe years to get fixes.

@iOrcus Not if you were allowing a server that just authenticates your connection. In Destiny 2 I play in UK and connect to London or Amsterdam steam servers but the authentication servers are based in the states. I used to just allow those servers in the Geofilter as I had strict mode switched on. But I found that resyncing the cloud on the geofilter sorts that out so I dont have allow or geofence the authentication servers in the states anymore. When I used to geofence the authentication servers rather than just allow them there was a chance I would get connected to a player or game server that was located near the authentication server geofence area. If you resync cloud on geofilter, ping heat map and device manager that may help.
-
If you do need to allow an authentication server you do not have to add a filter fence around it, just allow the server. If you put a fence around it you may get joined to a server from the area you plotted.

Hi @Pete Shaw, May not help but have you tried clearing your browser cache and trying again. I've had a couple of times where the interface goes a bit funny (options dissapearing e.g.) until I did this and then everything was fine again. Gl
-
Oh ok I was not aware that it had to be set up like that. I will give that a go and see how it performs. Thanks
-
Unfortunately that is not applicable for Destiny, I always connect to London or Amsterdam server with a good ping but its peer to peer after that and other players will be connecting to those servers from as far away as India, Russia and USA. The geofilter map lets me know where the players are located. They must be using a VPN or something or Steam is still matchmaking me with players far away.

Port forwarding working now. Had some time to check and filtering is working fine. Steady ping never kicks in usually, but have seen the odd occasion when it does. After a lot of experimentation though the game setup itself is mainly to blame for bad connections. If you take Destiny for example it still matches you with people all over the world fairly often, due to steam match making and VPN's I assume. Just had a game when one of the players was in Russia and had the host connection so was one sided from the start and most people on my team left the game. I had a good ping connection to London server. MW3 has aggressive SBMM so again you can have good ping but bad games due to VPN's or steam matchmaking policies.

Ok so just removed PS from DMZ and now able to add the port, not sure whats happening there? I am unable to add ports for my PC when a playstation is added to the DMZ. I can re add it to the DMZ when I have finished adding ports.

I think we have crossed wires maybe, I'm not saying it doesnt work, just that you mentioned that the Geofilter needs to be on for Geo-Latency to work. If someone sets up Geofilter for Destiny it advises the user to turn off filtering. If a user did that then Geo-latency would not work. Just pointing that out because its not clear that they both need to be on for games like Destiny when you setup specifically for that game. I'm testing now with Geofilter and Geo-Latency and will let you know how I get on. I am still having probs with port forwarding to get open nat which is on another post.

I am also getting unknown error when trying to add a UDP port. Not down to space in rule name so that is also a red herring. I am on PC so unable to put in DMZ. Any idea @Netduma Fraser why this occurs. I recently reapplied 0.23 and then did a FR and then setup port forwarding. UPnP is off and I have a PS setup fine under DMZ. I also have been able to add UDP 3074 port fine but not 3097. Keep getting Unknown Error.
-
Thanks for clarifying some of the points. Just to let you know that when you select Destiny 2 when setting up Geofilter it recommends not to switch on filtering for this game. But as per your comments, then Geo-Latency will not work and its designed to work with games like Destiny that have been difficult to get working with normal filtering.
-
You are correct I had 3074 and 3075 opened for another game. Amended my post.

Hi @Netduma Fraser, Just came across this comment a while back. Can you explain a few things please, What does Geo-latency do that's different from the usual filtering? If I set Geo-latency on for Destiny 2 should I also have the filtering option on also? Are their issues with Geo-latency working with Destiny 2 on .23 at the moment? Should it be on if so? Cheers

@julienFR have you tried pollutionblues suggestion? If you can see the server reporting on NAT status on your Geofilter you should be able to allow it and that might resolve your issue.

Just a couple of suggestions for the hard working Netduma staff and to all of the valuable contributors to the forum. For Staff: Does it make sense to update the Netduma FAQ post pinned to the top with answers to the most populated questions? Like we have had before maybe a pinned post with latest update projection dates that people can check rather than raise yet another post. A pinned post with latest beta download link with instructions to install and revert. With warning too that it may not have been tested thoroughly. Closing out posts that have been answered or move them to the bottom of the forum. Links to brief videos on how to troubleshoot known current issues on Geofilter for an example, explain what each of the options do and when they should be set. For Contributors: Take a few moments to skim through previous posts to see if your issue has already been raised. Prefix your post with the area of the firmware you have an issue with e.g. Geofilter / Port Forwarding. Then a clear high level description of the issue in that area. Give feedback on a post if you have had similar issues, especially if through trial and error you have been able to solve or get around the issue. Be patient and considerate when waiting for replies. The advantages to the above suggestions are that Fraser and the staff can spend less time answering the same questions and more of their precious time getting the updates sorted for the community. I would hate to guess how much time is wasted on forum posts due to post spamming. Also we can get answers from the community, rather than just the Netduma staff and be able to navigate the forums a lot more efficiently. I have been really impressed with the R3 and I took it on knowing their might be a few teething problems. I am very confident however that the issues will be fixed soon due to the dedication the Netduma guys have demonstrated to making this a success. Thanks to all who work long hours, over the holiday period too. Not many companies I know of do that.

I had this yesterday when entering in some port forwarding. It happens when there is a space in the rule name you give it. Take the spaces out and it should save fine.

Internet Speed halfed... 1000mbps to 500mbps
Stilts29 replied to 1_EYE_WIDGEYWOO's topic in Netduma R3 Support
I am also having half speeds and on latest .23 release. I connect R3 directly to the ONT. If I connect ISP supplied router I get full speed 900 up and down. PPOE -
Hey @Netduma Fraser , please can you point me in direction of latest R3 beta firmware? Many thanks

Hi sncjez, I play European servers so I just set my Geofilter for the Destiny 2 for PC option and then shortened it a bit.I also use strict mode which is on by default. This used to cause issues on XR500 but is fine with R3 Geofilter. You may want to resync cloud though after setting. You can use the polygon method but I didnt need that. But the real game changer for me has been the steady ping feature. I'm totally blown away by the performance, my son plays COD at same time and his game was great too. Hats off to the Netduma team for the hard work on this product, well worth the outlay and more updates to come.

Hi, I play Destiny 2 also on pc and just got the router yesterday. It works great and the crucible games have been a lot better than when I used my XR500. Awesome router
