jonnyg56 got a reaction from elboby in XR500 flash firmware from opentwrt back to Dumas?
I have recently flashed back and forth on the XR500 using Tftpd64 and had no issues. I was that impressed with Open-wrt that i've bought a flint2 router and selling the XR500 hence flashing it back to DumaOs

Hey Netduma fellows,
Hope you’re all having a great day! I wanted to share the best settings I’ve found for improving my online gaming experience. Now, I’m not sure if the Netduma team will be happy about this because, honestly, none of these settings are related to the Netduma router.
I’ve been using Netduma routers for over five years, starting with the R1 model. Sometimes, they performed great; other times, not so much. Over time, I began to question whether using QoS alone was the best approach—until I was introduced to SQM (Smart Queue Management).
Some of you might already be familiar with SQM, CAKE, and FQ_CoDel, but let me tell you—SQM is an absolute game-changer when running on high-performance router hardware with OpenWRT.
My Solution for Consistent Performance
The key to getting good, consistent results (which has helped me maintain a 3+ K/D ratio in every FPS game) was:
1. Using a high-performance router that supports OpenWRT
2. Enabling CAKE as the QoS algorithm
Since CAKE requires significant CPU power, I chose the Flint 2 router, which can efficiently shape over 500 Mbps of traffic while running CAKE.
The Best Part? Set It and Forget It
The only tuning required is adjusting overhead and MPU (Minimum Packet Unit) settings. Other than that, once set up, it just works.
That’s all I wanted to share. Hope this helps someone out there struggling with network consistency!

We *think* we know what the problem may be, we'll be pushing a cloud over the next few days that should hopefully resolve it.

A BETA a year and a half later? This version is prepared for the public and depends on NETGEAR making it public, QOS cannot fail even if it is BETA, it is a router that is said and promoted as the best QOS on the market, and we end up grateful for fixing it. ..

The DHCP lease is something for NG, it's been around a long time, it's unlikely they'll resolve it now tbh.
DPIclass we're looking into currently, hopefully it'll just be a cloud fix

How are you finding OpenWRT Lupin? I am very tempted to give it a go if its more stable, is there any chance you could link me to any info to flashing OpenWRT?
Thanks

Update the video to make it easier to follow. I messed up some of the instructions, and there’s no proper guidance on the internet. If you don’t follow a step, you’ll get stuck with issues like sending files to the wrong directory or failing to access them. It took me almost a full week to figure out what was wrong, and it was a painful ride with looking up information that I guess no one wants to specify or have videos for, thank me later.
Plug the Ethernet adapter in to avoid the error “pcap: no such device exists”.
This procedure can be done in most Netgear products as TFTP for some reason fails most of the time, and this resolves this issue into just doing it once, and it works.

Follow the steps from the first video until you reach 57 seconds. You can stop there. I’m not redoing it, but here’s a demo of an R7000 going from OEM to OpenWRT and back.

jonnyg56 got a reaction from Rahb in Traffic Prioritization is no longer working....
I have two PC's hardwired to the XR500 aswell as a Xbox series X and non of them are showing up as prioritizing traffic in QOS. I have tried just switching on the standard classified games and i have tried adding the device and creating a rule but nothing is been detected. The PC's mainly play Fornite, minecraft and Fifa and the xbox is Call of Duty. Im on the latest firmware (V2.3.2.134-dumaos33-rc14) and tried a factory reset aswell as redownloading the firmware but not having much luck....
I have had it working in the past and a little unsure when it stopped working, can anyone give some pointers as to where i might be going wrong? Thanks

I noticed they straight up ignore when this issue is brought up. Im glad we all played beta testers for them just to take all the feedback and use it for the r3 routers. The error still happens on netgears last firmware but doesnt repeat over and over it fails to update from the cloud if you try to sync devices

NO, the same thing happens to me and the solution is not mentioned or why it happens, when this "error" started to appear QOS and ADBLOCK do not work

This has been said and so far they do not offer a solution.
go back to the official Netgear version, there is no alternative

I think when you add 28 to your maximum MTU the 28 is reserved for header data which gives you your optimum MTU.

I don't think SBMMOFF support console or provide .cfg files, It works off a program that is loaded onto a PC and is for PC players only.

jonnyg56 got a reaction from Netduma Fraser in Xdefiant
Maybe it was just coincidence, they had major issues when the servers first came online and their was lots of people that were unable to get a match me included but that improved over 24hrs but I was still unable to connect...
I was only successful after swapping my DNS but it may well have been something Xdefiant had done there end.
