WampaFett
Hello everyone! To start, I'm extremely happy that I finally have a Netduma router. I'm overjoyed to have this much control over my connection, and I find the UI incredibly friendly. But I'm having issues. I know I'm doing something wrong. I live in Florida, US, just got the R1 and I'm working with a 30 down, 2 up connection with ~30 ping. There are two PS4s in the house, one wired into the R1, the other across the house and thus behind several walls. I can't move the router anywhere else. My girlfriend and I play with our clan a few nights a week in a party. I'm just getting the hang of everything, I've disabled the WiFi on my ISPs gateway, I'm taking advantage of device prioritization, etc., but while the connection on the wired PS4 is fantastic, the connection on the wireless one is far worse than it ever was. What else should I be doing? There are times when my girlfriend and I cannot hear each other now (remember, we are in the same house), sometimes cannot hear our classmates, and we get kicked from party at times as well. I tried UPnP (I think it's called) and port forwarding (not that I really know what I'm doing yet), and this seemed to cripple my connection even more. In fact I tested my connection on the wireless PS4 and came back with a 188 kbps (yes, with a 'k'!) upload. So needless to say I undid those changes. An important detail is that nearly all of our clanmates live in the UK, and this seems to conflict with the entire purpose of having a Netduma router, but I'm sure there's a way to balance this out. Is there a way to play with them and still take advantage of the Geo-filter? Because I've been having to disable it just to be able to play with them. What should I do in order for both PS4s to run optimally in the house, as well as be able to play with our UK clan mates?
Akic
Never game wirelessly. Get yourself some homeplugs and wire the 2nd ps4
Yam Yam
You could also change the wifi channel to one with a better rating. I have a wifi app on Android called 'Wifi Analyzer' by farproc, when you connect your phone to the router it will show you every router in range and what channel they use. It also gives you a star rating from 0-10 on the current channel you use and other channels. If there is a channel with more or maximum stars then change to said channel. Wifi channel selection is in Settings> Wifi, don't forget to apply settings then reboot the Duma in Settings> Miscellaneous. Rebooting from the gui will hard-save your settings every time, if you reboot from the mains first all previous settings just applied will be lost One last thing if you don't know, if you're gaming with friends you need to add each friend to your Geo filters 'Allow or Deny' list one at a time and label them(name), an easy way is to invite one friend to a party chat and you should see a circle appear on the Geo after a while, now put the rating bar at 100% then click 'update'. Repeat this for each friend/player
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 10, 2015 Administrators Share Posted December 10, 2015 Hey welcome to the forum. I would highly recommend you don't play wirelessly, as Akic said I would suggest getting some homeplugs/powerline adapters. If this is not a possibility for you, you can do what Yam said and work out what the best wifi channel for your area is. What are your console NAT types? That could explain the hearing issue. If you haven't added your friends to your allow list and you're not the party leader but are filtering then you will get booted. You should only have UPnP or port forwarding rules enabled. I would recommend UPnP as you have two consoles in your home so delete or at least disable the manual port forwarding rules you put in. You can add your friends to the allow list and then you can still use the Geo-filter but only if you're the party leader otherwise you will get booted. Hope that helps!
