Marc
Ive had the router now a week, upgraded yesterday to version 1.02.6 Im on talktalk fibre and testmy.net says my download is 36.8 and my upload is 1.4 when laptop is hardwired. On the network i have my xbox one with wired connection, then laptop, couple of phones and tablet all wireless. I have anti-flood both at 70%, preemptive algorithm and device prioritisation set 60% towards my xbox one with excess shared between the rest of devices. Im in uk, i use geofilter around 500km and usually dont have any problem finding a game now on the latest version. My problem is that im really not seeing any difference in AW game play, i get lots and lots of hit markers yet i seem to die off one hit kills. Or even i see hit markers but in the kill cam after the gun fight i died without even getting a hit marker from their aspect. Really frustrating me now, please please please help me!!! Buds
Best to start from the beginning and make sure all settings are correct. I'd recommend and read and follow instructions in: http://wiki.netduma.com/doku.php?id=gf_getting_started
Akic
Your settings seem fine from your description. One thing that stands out to me is your upload speed seems very low especially if you're getting 37mbps on the download. I would suggest disconnecting all devices and retrying your speed test from various services and different servers to get a true result. It's important your bandwidth is set correctly in the R1
Guest Netduma_Iain
Thanks guys for helping, Hi Marc, what pings are you getting to hosts when you get games? From there I can assist further buddy
Marc
Thanks for the speedy response guys. To be honest im getting quite a mix of pings. Some games everybody has full ping bars some games lucky to have 2 ping bars. Ive tested a few servers in my geo filter and again the range from 15-25, 30-50 even tested one that was 150-200ms ping. I can get maybe one or two good games but the next 5 are really terrible.
Guest Netduma_Iain
Ok Marc, Next time your on can you play 5 games or so in a row and let me know the ping your getting. Also when you see a high ping game can you look at the "Network Monitor" on the router, what do the utilisation bars say? Thanks
Marc
Ok ian i will do that later on tonight, im just on my way out. Ive tested my speed on a few different sites and the download speed does seem to vary slighty, +\- 3mbs but upload not much diference, between 1.4mbs to 1.8mbs. Will try what you asked and post back here. Thanks a lot
Marc
Ps where can i find the 'network monitor'?
Guest Netduma_Iain
Cheers Marc, On the last point I'm more interested in what is using your connection when playing, if a device is using it heavily we may need to use congestion control more
Guest Netduma_Iain
You can find the network monitor, on the red menu on the left mate

I've never seen a 40/2 on the talk talk network. Usually 40/10 or 80/
Zennon
Yes talk talk fibre is 40/2 or 80/20 What are your normal pings to 8.8.8.8 , you could use the duma's internet diagnostics to tell us.
Buds
Its a poor ratio on the basic Talk Talk at 40/2. You are correct though in that most services are normally 40/10 or 80/
Zennon
It is yes, I went for the up to 80/20 for the added upload and of course the down.

Guest Netduma Fraser
Thanks all for your help, i will be online again an hour or so. Having to let the other half have the tv for a while, valentines day treat from me Zennon can you explain what you mean please by ping to 8.8.8.8?? I will also give that a try On the R1 you can go to Internet diagnosis and you run the test and it will ping 8.8.8.8 which is Google's IP.

Guest Netduma Fraser
I cant seem to find internet diagnosis? Sorry my mistake, its on the .7 version. It may be worth upgrading if you like to use the Internet diagnosis and use the ping assist to try and find better games. You can see how to upgrade here http://wiki.netduma.com/doku.php?id=manual_update and heres some more info on internet diagnosis http://wiki.netduma.com/doku.php?id=id_ping_diagnostics
Marc
Ok guys i have upgraded and done the ping test. Ping, good. Jitter, good. Spikes, good. No packet loss. What else do you need to know from this test?
Zennon
Now you have upgraded you can use the ping assist to find games at or below the threshold you set as well as the geo filter for distance you will need to set your service to xbox live pa at the top of the host filtering page.have a go with the ping settings and see if you get smoother game plays i set mine a bit higher than what my pings are to 8.8.8.8 (they are listed in your ping test you did with the duma) 30 - 50 range should work well for most people if you have a really low ping you could go lower
Marc
My lowest ping was 16 My highest ping was 31. You think setting ping assist to around 35 ok or should i go higher? Also when i select xbox one as device and then xbox live, shouldnt there be one with PA after it? Sure i seen that somewhere?
Zennon
Thats quite a bit of jitter you have there , that will affect online gaming this might be why you are seeing inconstant games, imo (jitter the difference between base ping and the highest reading)
Marc
Ok so how can i try fix this? Or is it a case of the talktalk internet is rubbish?
Zennon
Might have just been a blip maybe test again , i am with TT and they have always been good with pings. Could you take a screen shot of the test and attach it via the more reply options button
