Yup just move your home location to Illinois, actually Michigan would work too.But just set it to cover the whole state of Illinois so you can pickup the dedi's in northern Illinois and Southern Illinois also.

I moved it all over US..lol...still the same..1 day last week I got away from it for couple of hours then right back to it..

Is it a dedi or a P2P host ?

And is your GF on and do you have strict mode ticked ?

If you move your home location and still keep connecting to it and it's outside your GF it may be a dislocated server.

Write down the ID and post it in the thread with mis located dedi's

If you are on the latest upgrade 1.0.3.5 and have hard refreshed the Geo page and re selected the service so that it doesn't have PA at the end the only way you can be connecting to it constantly is by:

  • Geo-filter being disabled - should say "disable" if it's enabled.
  • Having strict unticked
  • Having PA on
  • Having your location & radius covering that area
  • Not waiting for Geo to clear between games

So make sure to double check this

If you are playing BO3 I think it is AcTivision. I live in Southern California. I place my location in Kansas to cover only that server with PA at 30ms and Strict on. But it still connects me to either the server in Los Angeles which is terrible or the one in San Jose or San Francisco. This I know because I use the Trace in the R1 though I know they say it doesn't work.

So maybe it is AcTivision.

That server that shows up in Kansas has multiple id's.  I don't believe it is one server but a server farm.  Some play better that others.  It is really not that bad.  I am in the southeast and I get placed there alot as well.  If you are not happy with the playabilty of a server just back out and wait two to three minutes and try a new search.  Also what has worked for me is search for a different game type like domination vs tdm and then go back to searching for your original game type and usually you will not get placed back on that same server.  Just a suggestion.

With regard to Dedicated servers in BO3, I agree that most of these actually play quite well. I find that the peer to peer games are very hit and miss fraught with host migrations, skipping, and lost connections. I am in Ontario Canada which is East Caost, but have had good games on the Seattle server, with a 80 to 90ms ping. I feel that with the higher pings, I benefit from latency compensation, as long as the connection to the dedicated server is good.

Yes that Server has to be several and I have seen even the Update button turn on to rate it.

I agree with Buck Nasssty.

The KC server is probably part of the city's recent (2008) technological investments by major companies like Google, MS, etc. to farm out processing and storage power a.k.a. cloud computing.

Server farms are popping up in places like the Mid-West, home to traditional agricultural farms, due to the lower cost of electricity and (water) cooling needed to run these massive, sometimes football stadium-sized data centers. It's the same reason why Google Fiber and other high-speed internet services are being made available to the rural areas as well: Education (schools, universities, research firms) and how they both mesh together.

Is there anyway to avoid it..

if you're on Xbox, more than likely you won't be able to avoid it.  The game will pretty much force you to play on a dedicated server.  Unless your willing to avoid that server and play on the Seattle server which is not that great either or hope that you'll get a p2p connection (which I highly doubt you will).
