DARK BAWGS
I have noticed, in several topics, reference is made to the poor servers on XB1 and that PS4 provides a better experience. I would be interested in more definitive comments on this subject. Here are some opinions that I have picked up on: PS4 can provide real 60fps which gives better quality experience and less jitter PS4 has better servers thus less lag problemsWith COD BO3 going to PS4 for league play it is suspected that there will be a deluge of new players moving to this platform thus placing excessive demand on servers, the result will be a degradation of their servers. PS4 will get more support (DLS one month earlier) than XBox because of the move of league play. I am sure there are many more comments but the world is not only about COD there are other games so how do the two platforms compare beyond this? For example which platform has the best selection of other titles! I am at the point of considering adding a PS4 but don't want to throw out the bucks for insignificant benefit. Welcome your thoughts as the most opinionated, knowledgeable folks in the gaming world... (OK so a little pandering never hurts, right) DB
BENORMOUS
For me the xbox one got more stick than it deserves, ive not owned a playstation since the first ever ps1 I got into gaming 10 years ago with the 360 and ill allways be a xbox fan,it has had its issues over recently with its rubbish dashboard system but since I've adapted to the new Windows 10 im really happy with how it works,as for games and servers I can't comment ive only heard these rumours that the ps4 was so amazing when say the blops3 beta was active but i could never switch to the ps4 because I love the xbox exclusives, gears forza etc and im sure a few others will agree as there's a lot of halo fans In here, the new head of xbox Phil Spencer seems to be doing good things with the xbox and with backwards compatiblity here for xbox I really think it will win back a lot of its fans, people now days will literally switch consoles just because black ops 3 dlc comes out early on ps4 and esports is over there now,I'm not that stupid ill be going nowhere, also as of December black ops 1 is backward compatible which is gonna make a hell of a lot of people happy
PharmDawgg
This discussion has been going on since Apple versus Microsoft debate. But I won't go there. No one console is better than the other. Yes the PlayStation does have a more powerful hardware set up. But I like Xbox's Live network. It all depends on the user. What type of games do you like to play? I have an Xbox One but a long time ago I had a PlayStation 1.
lthoma1989
To me it's just preference. I hate the UI for X1, so it was hard switching to ps4 because I had a 360 for so long. X1 has the better exclusives tho in my opinion.
II Z IE IR O II
I'm one of those that made reference in regards to PlayStation network being better for COD play vs playing Xbox. I'm STRICTLY a FPS gamer so that's all I play. For COD game play online, IMO....PlayStation works for me because of my geographical location. Xbox for some reason routes my game play to Seattle vs sending me to a server in California. Being that I'm from Hawaii...that's quite a distance which equates to high ping. PlayStation routes my game play to California which equates to a substantial lower ping. I'm also a Gears of War player (Xbox exclusive) so I still will be playing on my Xbox. Graphics on the ps4 is also a little "sharper" vs the Xbox. People say you can't tell the difference, but if you have a good monitor or tv, you can tell the difference. Like I mentioned in my other post, I'm an Xbox fan but I must admit, the ps4 wins this time around.

This is a speculation but it's worth mentioning. I hear you! I switched from PC to Xbox then to Xbox 360 and now the One; just get frustrated with all the bashing and there really doesn't seem to be one overall winner. As Procreate says like "Toyota or a Nissan" there's the rub. I have had both and the Nissan couldn't pass a service center without stopping in and costing my $300 +++ but the Toyota only ever needed oil changes so this time I bought a Hyundai!!!! no loyalty there. I guess I am best to stay the course with my Xbox as I have so much invested in it. Thanks for your feedback. DB

JConnor
I own both and play both regularly as a streamer. I like the XB1 for it's legacy support. Meaning, if you started with the original XB back in 2000, it's still pretty much the same except for the hardware and UI upgrades, obviously. The "feel" of the console has never changed which a lot of people don't realize? This is on purpose, most likely since it's a MS-branded product and they have a distinct feel to them just like Apple does, just like Android (Google) does, etc. I thought it worth mentioning because when I boot up the XB1, I get a nice nostalgic feeling in the pit of my stomach, but in a good way... That is, until I play on the XBL servers - lol. The great thing others have mentioned will be the backwards compatibility. Go buy older games for like $4, $5 dollars now and play them on the new system with better performance. That's a huge selling point and one reason I am glad I stuck it out with XB as I play most of my FPS games on XB1 and more SP and non-FPS games on PS4. Also, for me, I missed the XB360-era, (in lieu of a PC and PS3), so even though I have a gaming PC, I want to experience older gems like "Mass Effect" series and others they way they were meant to be played, originally, and now that is possible with backwards compatibility. The PS4, on the other hand, seems to have a better gaming network, for me, at least. This won't be a universal experience for everybody, but I have a lot more success with BO3 on the PS4 than XB1 to the point I am not even going to level up anymore on the XB1. I bought the XB1 version because I have friends on it and will play with them, but for streaming and mainstream leveling, etc. it will be PS4 all the way from now on (ironically, I have more PS4 friends, too). The benefits of owning both consoles is there are no exclusive titles in my house
procreate
meh, i was just throwing out two Japanese car manufacturers. can sub any low end car maker in there. ford vs chevy subaru vs vw honda vs hyundai gala vs fuji hershey vs mars hunts vs heinz fwiw, i switched to xbox360 for the DLC release schedule. if i even remotely cared abouit BO3 i would get a PS4... but both the "nextgen" consoles and the recent CoD releases have been SO UNDERWHELMING it doesnt make me want EITHER. i have actually been having quite a good time playing MW3 and Ghosts on 360 lately... especially MW3 which i am thinking aside from death streaks and the stealth bomber was possibly the best CoD ever made. maps still are great all the way through the DLC, great killstreaks... fantastic guns. now if i could only get the Ghosts slide and create a class i would have the perfect CoD ever. Zennon
I like the xbox pad and the new elite sticks are something else, Bops 3 80% of the time is playing spot on the other 20% is weird stuttery juddery dedi games that I just back out off. Ive always went with the under dog console so I have never owned a Sony and never will, it was just by chance the 360 did well.
ziocomposite
I have the same experience with BO3 with PS4 playing better than X1 version. The two previous CODS played way better on X1 but looks like the new allegiance may have changed that. X1 look blurry compared to PS4 and is really a hindrance when it comes to multiplayer. It's only something you'd notice from owning both. AW had the same issue but was negligible unlike this time. The PS4, on the other hand, seems to have a better gaming network, for me, at least. fuzzy clam
I've only ever owned Sony but seems to me who ever has the deal with the gaming companies, that console seems to play better.Don't know it it's due to the game being made and not ported thru or what but again that's just my opinion on it. Zennon
Both console's are now just pc's unlike the older sonys which had their own proprietary architecture, so ports would mess up.
Dillinger
I own both. I wasn't going to get the PS4 until the dreadful play of the Beta. Now I have both systems and I am playing Black Ops3 on both of them. The Playstaton network gives me better ping options. I can connect with >20ms ping all day on the PS Dedi in Seattle. The XB1, now that I upgraded to the new operating system, is what I prefer. The controller is larger (big hands) and it's just what I "came up on" having all the systems back to the Xbox Brick. But the connections.... smh The local Seattle dedi is pinging 62ms for me and rarely drops below it. If I put the geo over Kansas I can connect at almost the EXACT same speed. Go figure. NEITHER OF THE IS PLAYING WELL AT THE MOMENT. It's one week into a brand new game, that set records for digital sales and downloads on both platforms. There are a LOT of players, all bringing their bad connections and poor play to every game. I would have loved for this game to be completely optimized when it dropped, but I honestly don't think they had any idea of the shear numbers playing it. When I can rage quit a game, and get thrown into another match on the same MAP, with all new players, that is some redundancy on matchmaking... LOL Right now I can not recommend either platform if Black Ops 3 is driving the decision. They both have pluses and minuses, in my mind. PS4: The connections to dedi's on Black Ops 2 seem to be quicker and the competition seems to have a lot of parties. I find the party making system a kick in the balls bad to be honest. I've gamed with The Reverend Bagsta a few times and it takes us 20 minutes to get partied up every time we play. XB1: New Upgrade seems to be smoother, cleaner. I haven't tried the party system yet, but every lobby is stacked with them, so I assume it's working okay...LOL I do prefer the UI on the XB1, but that is merely personal preference. i'm not disappointed that I purchased the PS4, I've had some good games and got to play halfway around the world with forum friends, but the pluses are small (to me) for the investment spent to date. YMMV JD

Newnsy
On the PS versus XBone debate surely it's simple there is little difference between the consoles, it's clear PS is slightly more powerful but psn as a whole is shocking compared to ms. Choose the console your mates play on gaming is only fun when your having a laugh with friends :)
JConnor
...but psn as a whole is shocking compared to ms. I disagree. XBL just seems better because of the slick integration of every single aspect e.g. friends, store, etc. PSN is basically the same thing, but their UI isn't as intuitive, IMO. Everybody says the PS4 is geared toward gamers, but as far as online functions go, a lot of the good ones are buried within layers of menus whereas XBL it's all "in your face", but in a good way.
