KneeOnSign
Hello! I was excited to hook up my newly acquired Netduma R1 last night but then was very quickly disappointed. It appears there is not a way for the every day customer to change the network the LAN lives on (much). It does give you the option to configure it using any 192.168.x.x rage, however I have many devices that are static IP'd outside this range, making this product useless to me. Does Netduma have plans on changing/updating this to be an actual configurable option for the user?
PharmDawgg
Check out this post it may have your answer. http://forum.netduma.com/topic/2440-support-for-10xxx-lan-addressing/?hl=10.0.0.1&do=findComment&comment=33828
Administrators Netduma Iain Posted September 24, 2015 Administrators Share Posted September 24, 2015 As mentioned on twitter you cannot do that on the UI. It's so rare it is near the bottom of my TODO list. Honestly I don't understand why a home user wouldn't use DHCP or at worst case just change their static IPs if they insist. Anyway having said that can you please list the devices and their IP addresses please? Also is there a reason you're not using DHCP? I can manually change your IP for you if you allow me access on the router and give me your IP. It hasn't been tested but I'm pretty sure the backend code is flexible. Also if you don't mind me asking, what is the primary reason you got the router and how did you hear about us? Thanks
KneeOnSign
Well...it's not currently in service, so I'm not sure how I'm going to be able to get you access to change. I have many devices that are static IP'd. Security system devices, environmental monitors, IP cameras and servers. The network needs to be 172.21.8.0/24. 172.21.8.1 would need to be the LAN GW IP. I 'heard' good things from various reviews and thought I'd give it a try. I'm a gamer and the promise and software provided look to be something I'd like to take advantage of. Administrators Netduma Iain Posted September 24, 2015 Administrators Share Posted September 24, 2015 Ok is there a reason they have to be static? I'm busy as we're doing a beta update today. But if you can connect it directly to your modem. Can you follow this guide to make sure I can access it: http://wiki.netduma.com/doku.php?id=how_do_i_open_my_nat Then finally go to "Settings > Misc" and ticket enable remote access. Once you've done that pm me your IP address and I'll access it and change your network for you.
KneeOnSign
Yes, because I have systems that need to monitor those devices or bad things happen. Simply put, the IP's can not change or big flashing lights and alarms go off. I'll work on setting you up access tonight and will PM you the info. Thanks for your time. Administrators Netduma Iain Posted September 24, 2015 Administrators Share Posted September 24, 2015 Ok great, I'm in the UK though. So I may not be able to do it till the morning. Leave it on over night if you don't mind. Thanks!
KneeOnSign
No luck Iain. You set the local IP of the netduma as .0...clearly assigning the network address does not work. https://cloud.zshentech.net/index.php/s/xyczAoI4awY5QYN https://cloud.zshentech.net/index.php/s/Jl3qvMwIjuAsbiB In fact, what you ended up changing does not seem like a very viable option. When the router updates to new firmware, the "custom" network will be wiped out and revert back to the 192.168.x.x scheme. It really is silly that the CUSTOMERS network is dictated by Netduma and this is a NON configurable option to the customer. Knowing the hardware you're using...there is lots of potential that Netduma is NOT taking advantage of. Great idea? Not the best execution. $200 brick and flushed down the toilet. Maybe one day a simple option like...using whatever network the customer wants will be something Netduma will support.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted September 26, 2015 Administrators Share Posted September 26, 2015 Knee, we take customer feedback very seriously, in fact a lot of the features we have implemented have come from customer ideas. As said before no one has ever required this, I will let Iain know on Monday about your post and see if he can change it more to your liking

KneeOnSign
@Netduma Iain I wanted to chime back in after the second attempt of work you performed on my Netduma. Things seem to be working as expected now. I appreciate you going out of your way to customize the LAN network per a customers request. As I've stated before though, I would like to request this 'feature' as the next software upgrade my in fact just remove the 'custom' LAN network settings and will be back in the same hole I was before. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted October 1, 2015 Administrators Share Posted October 1, 2015 Awesome to hear that! I believe it is in the ticket system but probably won't appear in the next upgrade. Hopefully it saves across
