Tua PR Posted Tuesday at 01:34 PM Posted Tuesday at 01:34 PM Hello, Netduma team! As a huge fan, user, and beta tester, I’d like to suggest a native Netduma Mesh system for your next hardware release. In fact, I recently had to disconnect my Netduma R3 because I have a 1 Gbps up/down connection, and hardware limitations prevented me from utilizing the full speed. On top of that, I live in a two-story apartment with heavy interference from neighboring Wi-Fi networks, and a single R3 just can't get the signal everywhere. A native Mesh system would completely solve these issues. It would allow users with high-speed connections to achieve full coverage across multiple floors and overcome intense interference—all while maintaining unique DumaOS features (like Geo-Filter and Congestion Control) across every node. It would combine your gaming software with the reliable coverage and performance that modern households urgently need! Redflame 1
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted 23 hours ago Administrators Posted 23 hours ago That would be really cool but it would involve a lot of work in an area we've not really touched before, perhaps once this big feature update is done we'll have more time to look into things like this Tua PR and Redflame 2
Newfoundland Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago Trouble is with a mesh what makes you think your phone will swap, they work by signal strength and in a small apartment mesh systems don’t work well because phones will tend to stick to a single access point. WiFi 6 should have helped due to the BSS Coloring, WiFi 6 was built for congested areas, you would need to ask the developers what standards within WiFi 6 they support on the R3.

I get your point about sticky clients in small spaces, but my apartment layout is a bit of a nightmare for RF. I live in Puerto Rico, and here, buildings are entirely made of thick reinforced concrete with heavy steel rebar inside. Concrete and steel are basically an absolute dead end for Wi-Fi signals. Also, the layout is quite unique (The ceiling of my living room is my neighbor's second floor, and my bedrooms are underneath theirs—and vice versa... It's weird.). A single router, even with Wi-Fi 6 BSS Coloring, simply cannot punch vertically through that thick reinforced concrete slab to reach the rooms. To solve this, I actually had to switch to a Wi-Fi 7 mesh system (Deco BE10000). The nodes communicate perfectly and my phone drops and swaps flawlessly between floors. That's exactly why I know a native DumaOS mesh solution would be a massive lifesaver for complex architectural layouts like this!

I completely understand that developing it from scratch involves a massive amount of back-end work, especially since DumaOS has traditionally been focused on single gaming routers. It's great to hear that it's at least a cool concept on your radar! I'll be looking forward to that big feature update you guys are working on right now. Hopefully, once the dust settles, a native mesh system can be explored down the road. Keep up the awesome work with the updates!
