Bell advanced dmz need help

Recommended Posts

Could you clarify a bit more.. Are you trying to put the R3 into the DMZ of your ISP router/modem?

Thanks!

Turning on Advanced DMZ in the Hub configures one machine on your internal network, selected by MAC address, with the public IP address of your router. When i try to put R3 in ADMZ it gets no internet connection, im trying to figure out how to do a static route because i read that puting destination 0.0.0.0/1 will help fix issue.

Thats interesting.. Ive never heard of doing a static route before to get it to work.. Typically once one hooks the R3 to your hub the R3 would obtain an Ip address from the hub and then that is what you would put in your Advance DMZ of your hub..  The only thing that I can think as to why its not working is because of conflicting Ips.. Like your hub is using something possibly very similar to 192.168 ect ect..  When you look at the WAN Ip on the R3 what does it show?

This likely will be one for Fraser to help with! I assume you have already tried factory resetting the R3 to see if that helped?

Sorry I couldnt of been of more help..

Thanks!

Zippy.

Take the R3 out of the DMZ on the hub, then give the R3 a static IP (not route) so that the IP for the R3 is always the same, then put it in the DMZ. Reboot the hub, wait 2 minutes, reboot the R3, wait 2 minutes then check if that works please

why do you want to put your R3 in DMZ mode ? I own a HH4K

So i can forward ports and not double nat. pppoe connection was ok but too much latency in games, dmz was ok but it was not as good as Admz. Admz gave me the proper speeds compared to pppoe and the connection for multiplayer was way better.

In order  to fix bell advanced dmz, after R3 start or restarts,  you just need to disable BELL DMZ , save, and then re-enable  again , then it works, yes, its weird but there it is. you do not  need to remove device or uncheck ADMZ box during this process.

I myself am using PPPOE which doesn't need this superduper advanced "technique" , you will need you bxxxxxxx user name and password which you can reset on bell cs pages if you dont know it , go to mybell, internet serviceb1xxxx profile and change password, you would need to re-enter it in your modem as well afterwards...

I had this issue with routers before R3 too....

The Bell Home/GigaHubs are a mess. Their advanced DMZ aren't very reliable. What I did was just PPPOE to a custom PC running DD-WRT, then connected to that I have my R3 in DMZ.

You could also just PPPOE to the R3 but if you have speeds over 500-600mbps you likely won't hit them based on the overhead required for PPPOE.

You are right the hubs are really bad atm im hoping the rumors about them adding bridge mode in the future are true.
