SteadyPing issue

Recommended Posts

Anyone else not able to get steady ping to work very well? I've noticed after a week my steady ping never pings the server and then it just keeps saying "waiting on host" instead of actually stabilizing the server.

I can never get the server graph to show either. I’ve played over a hundred games and never seen it once. But I can confirm I do get a stabilized message when playing

SteadyPing doesn't ping the server, that stabilizes the connection, it's just the normal ping function that pings, it's something we'll be improving, I believe we know a reason why it happens

Gotcha, I noticed a few games where it felt a little rubbery on hit detection but it hasn't been too often. However I never get the stabilized message, it just says waiting on host. Hopefully the reason you guys found gets worked out and added in with this new firmware coming. If you need testers, I'd be glad to jump on to any firmware testing you are going to be rolling out for R3.

I think there is an issue with the Geo-Filter when using custom. Ever since I got the R3, the custom settings to draw your boundaries seemed off and quite often I was connecting to servers outside the places I marked even though I have the settings set to not do that. I recently switched to simple and I have yet to encounter that issue. Maybe this is affecting the other settings for the Geo-Filter.

We have seen some issues with custom so we'll be looking into that

turn off geo latency and enable strict mode in the geo filter settings. Your servers will be restricted to your polygon

I already have.

I thought it was going well but then it started to jump outside again and connected to unwanted servers. Steady Ping on/off, Geo-Latency on/off, Geo-Filter simple/custom, I'm still getting connected to servers outside my boundaries. The first couple games of the day seem to work perfectly fine though. Even with them blocked, I can see it trying to until it fails. I have fast search off, strict mode on, ping assist at 0. I also notice that I'm having to re-fresh the page every once in a while when I notice that it stops working and that seems to help.

Only time I've experienced your issue with the polygon was after drawing it while my console was on, I think. I ended up removing my console, deleted the polygon, switched off console and started all over. I haven't connected to a server outside my polygon since

As above, are you making changes while on the game? Any Geo-Filter settings should be made before you boot the device/game

I can't remember if it was in game or not, I'm pretty sure my console was on though. It doesn't happen often but yesterday it connected me to a server in South America, Brazil I believe. I was surprised to only see 120ms ping though. I will try doing everything over while my console is off. Thank you.

I think that will help, keep us posted!

I deleted everything and re-setup everything while console is off and it did it again. I live in the Northwest United States and it was trying to connect me to a server in Georgia, the Southeast United States. I forgot to mention this but, like all of the others, the server showed a checkmark as if I had already granted it permission. This marks the 19th time that I have had to block a server somewhere around the world that already showed a checkmark as if I had already accepted it where it was trying to connect me to a game from that area. When setting up the device, I have tried both recommended filtering for the game and also choose filtering manually and it has happened on both. The description is pretty vague about the difference between them and I haven't seen any discernible difference between them either.

Sounds like we have probably whitelisted the server, if you provide the ID for it/them we can take a look and get them removed

I have exactly the same issue with some Georgia Servers. Here is an example.

Same thing, different server apparently. Ping assist is set to zero (0). Appears with a check before connecting.

Thank you for this, I'll get the team to remove them from the whitelist.

Hello Fraser, This server too appears whitelisted and connects outside the Geofence. Thanks for all the support.

HEelo @Netduma Fraser Another Whitelisted server way outside of the Geofence. The Geofilter maybe working fine, these wihitelisted servers maybe the issue for these unwanted connections. Ping Assit set to zero (0) "Allowed by Ping Assist" is the reason for the connection. Thanks for the continued support and hard work.
