zuhloobie
I recently received the R3 after years of wanting a Netduma. I have CenturyLink (CL) Fiber (940/940) and reside in the US. The model of the CL is C4000XG. 2 weeks ago I had it connected via bridge successfully, but over time the connection dropped more and more frequently. Then the geo filter stopped adhering to my defined fence. I am in the western US and was connecting to Chicago, Louisiana, Florida, and even France. I rebooted and now it won't connect at all. I have it connected like this: Fiber to C4000XG source, C4000XG port 1 to Netduma source (image below). Century Link told me this (image below): ISP Protocol: transparent bridging VPI/VCI setting: Tagged-0 My PPoE user/password But now the Netduma can't find the internet. Even after a factory reset (paperclip method for 30 seconds). Any thoughts or advice? Getting a bit frustrated LOL. FWIW, Century Link support is ridiculously bad. Different info each time. At one point they told me this if it helps: VPI = 0, VCI = 32, Multiplexing = LLC. But I can't find those settings anywhere to input them. Thanks in advance! zuhloobie
UPDATE: I changed the VPI/VCI setting on the CenturyLink to "Tagged-201" instead of "Tagged-0" like CenturyLink said 🙄. I connected and got through the setup! Still appears to be losing connection every now and then, though. Every 5 to 10 minutes. I added 1492 for the MTU (saw that in my CenturyLink settings). Still dropping connection. I've read about people setting VLAN to 201 on the Netduma, but when I go into WAN Settings > Advanced to do that, the UI lets me toggle on VLAN, but when I type in 201, it does nothing and doesn't stay set after clicking Save. Normally when you tap Save, it goes back to the prior menu. This just stays on that screen and if I exit and go back in, VLAN is still toggled on, but where you put the 201, it's at 0 and says, "Must be between 1 and 4094". My IPv6 (WAN) setting is toggled on if that helps. Edited January 15 by zuhloobie Clarified where I set the VPI/VCI setting
zuhloobie
Current R3 DumoOS version: 4.0.20 App version: 4.0.0 Side note: when in the settings on desktop, using Ping Heat Map, nothing shows when I try to click on "Choose Game"...
zuhloobie
Update Still dropping connection playing MW3 on PS5. Also geo-filtering is completely ignored. Being sent to Washington DC and Ireland??? This is getting really frustrating/disappointing.
zuhloobie
UPDATE I tried to upload the latest R3 firmware "DumaOS-R3-4.0.23.sig" via desktop through Troubleshooting > Upload Firmware and got this: Error uploading Firmware:

404 Not Found

404 Not Found

nginx/1.15.10

When I back out of that error, I get stuck on this: "Trying to reconnect to your Router, please wait..." I left it alone and eventually I got this: "Your Router model or version number has changed. Please refresh to continue using DumaOS." After clicking Refresh, it seems to be adhering to the geo filter now. Will update ASAP if that continues to be stable and if connectivity improves. Zippy
Hello @zuhloobie When you lose connection do you happen to notice anything in your logs of the R3? Any DHCP renew or release type thing? It might be helpful for you to post a log of your R3 to help troubleshoot your issues.. Its likely with you disconnecting on and off that likely can cause your Geo to start to fail.. I was also going to ask if you were on the latest firmware.. Which now sounds like you are.. Are you seeing 4.0.23 now on your router? If you are now on the latest firmware keep us posted on how things are going.. Thanks! Zippy.. I will also tag @Netduma Fraser here for you to give you further assistance if needed.. zuhloobie
@Zippy whoops, that's embarrassing - more obvious that I care to admit, LOL - thanks! Playing on a PS5 hardwired to the fiber. There's another PS5 that's connected wirelessly. No other platforms being gamed on. Here are the logs. DARKNESS
@zuhloobie The suggestions below should help if you are continuing to connect to servers outside of your radius. * Disable GeoLatency * Disable PingAssist (set it to 0,0) * Enable Strict Mode * Disable Fast Search Then restart the game if that doesn't work, reboot PC/Console and check again. zuhloobie
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 15 Administrators Share Posted January 15 The above should help with the Geo-Filter. In terms of the disconnects, if you give the R3 a DHCP reservation on the other router, then reboot the R3 does that prevent the issue happening again? zuhloobie

Okay, I disabled GeoLatency, Ping Assist was already at 0 - 0, Strict Mode is already on, and Fast search is already disabled. So just the one change. I will report back if it continues to search outside my radius. Thanks!

Sorry, I'm techy, but not in terms of internet connectivity . How do I give the R3 a DHCP reservation on the CenturyLink modem?

How do I give the R3 a DHCP reservation on the CenturyLink modem? From the screenshot you provided there is a section called DHCP Reservation under LAN Settings. Not sure if it will list devices or not so you can see the IP but if not, copy the WAN IP from Settings > WAN on the R3 and then enter it there. zuhloobie

Seems easy enough, but I can no longer access the Century Link modem's GUI . It doesn't have the same sort of "Manage Router" options that your Netduma does (love that by the way). I get "Site can't be reached" for: https://192.168.0.1/. I've tried hardwiring my laptop to it, still can't access. I've tried wirelessly connecting to it, nothing. Chatted with Century Link and had to do a hard reset on their modem 🤬. I can now access the GUI. This is the screen...where do I enter the R3's WAN IP? It's 63.153.xx.xxx and not seeing it on a drop down Edited January 16 by zuhloobie clarity
zuhloobie
Never mind on that WAN IP - it changed to 97.121.xxx.xxx Still not seeing it in a drop down.

Hey zuhloobie, I do have a question for you.. Are you still currently in Bridge mode? Im not sure one can reserve an IP when in bridge mode.. If you are having connectivity issues in Bridge Mode you can also try to put it back to router mode and then set the R3 in the DMZ feature of your Century link router. If you need further assistance just post back and we can help you along the way. Thanks! Zippy. zuhloobie and titofuenla
zuhloobie
@Zippy yes, still in transparent bridge mode. So is the suggestion to throw the R3 into the DMZ? Or wait for a response from @Netduma Fraser on how to do a DHCP Reservation in my situation? I've done DMZ in the past with a NightHawk for a console, but never for a router. So any documentation would be appreciated!
Zippy
@zuhloobie I just dont want to confuse you on this matter.. Basically theres commonly two ways one can do this.. One would be to use what you are now which is Bridge Mode and have Fraser help you more.. The other way would be to put back your Century Link into router mode and then put the R3 in the DMZ feature of your Century Link router.. Basically what like you did with a console but this time it would be the R3.. Those are your two options.. If you want to hear back from Fraser first and go from there that will work.. He will be back tomorrow to further help you Either way we will try to get to the bottom of your disconnects So no worries.. I will check in on how things are going for you! Thanks! zuhloobie
@Zippy thank you for being so helpful! It's very appreciated. I think I'll wait until I hear from @Netduma Fraser before trying the DMZ route. Just to exhaust where it's at currently with its settings and to also not introduce another variable too soon. zuhloobie
Side note while we deal with connectivity drops: Custom geo-filtering using polygons still searches outside the set area - see below image and it also keeps trying to connect to Ireland - seemingly by default? I've reverted back to the Simple geo-filtering, setting a ~630 mile filter with a pin on my home location. Haven't seen any issues with that so far. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 16 Administrators Share Posted January 16 My bad, basically what Zippy set, take it out of bridge then put the R3 in its DMZ. I believe the WAN IP of the R3 is changing frequently which may be causing it, changing to this configuration should prevent that. Ireland is most likely an authentication server required for online play. It has been reported polygon isn't working as well as simple so we'll take a look at that.
