PharmDawgg
The slider for the Steady Ping (Expert) - is it the ping added or the actual value that it tries to maintain. For instance if I want my ping to maintain a value of 50 should I place it at 50 or 50 minus my base ping. Thanks.
TrayDay
Netduma would have to chime in on it more. From what I've noticed. Everyone will be slightly different. But, somewhat similar experience. I don't have a fiber connection, I have cable. So, I have quite the jitter and can do what I can for a cable connection. I say this, because, from what it seems. My MAX ping is taken into consideration for steady ping. When I run pingplotter to the server I'm connected to. I'm below 30ms. Just like I put on my EXPERT steady ping. But, in game, my ping is 60-70ms. As I believe, it tries to accommodate and to maintain that stable ping. Here are some images.
PharmDawgg
Firmware: .23/Comcast Cable/SE USA. I play alot of Overwatch 2 and I have been playing around with the Steady Ping (Expert) to find the sweet spot. I don't know if anyone else plays this game but it seem I only get connected to the Oklahoma servers. Which is weird that there are no Oklahoma servers showing up on the ping heat map. Sorry this is another issue. I have pushed the slider all the way to 80 and as low as 25. My base ping if 12 to 15. I have landed on setting SP(Expert) of 50 for now. Sometimes if I set it too high I get the poor connection symbol in game and I don't think that does anyone any good. I feel you too concerning the cable connection. I have a cable connection as well. Clears up my question. It looks as though what you set the slider to is what the server host thinks your R3 has. Thanks for the info. carmine19
Pro Innocence
I am glad this has been asked as I came on here tonight specifically to ask this in the forum. I'll follow this thread and hopefully Fraser can give the answer soon. PharmDawgg
Pro Innocence
Not sure if any of you have noticed, but after a few few games my steady ping seems to stick on the same server and continue to ping that specific one. It is only when I close the browser and re open it that it shows the current one I am on. Any one else? Edit: Sorry off topic.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 4 Administrators Share Posted January 4 It's the target ping, so if you have 20ms ping to the server normally and you put Steady Ping to 50ms, it will give you 50ms to the server, not 70ms - it's not adding the value you set on top of your ping. This is why we recommend putting it slightly higher than your usual ping. If you have 20ms that fluctuates to between 15 - 30, 30ms would be a good target ping to set. 16 hours ago, Pro Innocence said: Not sure if any of you have noticed, but after a few few games my steady ping seems to stick on the same server and continue to ping that specific one. Oh so it's not auto updating that's interesting, what browser are you using? Jumppy_15 and PharmDawgg
Pro Innocence
Nice! Thanks for the easy to understand explanation mate. I am using Opera GX. I am going to try Google and see if there is any difference. I think it may be the browser to be honest mate.

BL4CK OPS V3TRN
Hi All, I have had mine on Simple since the get go and works fantastic , however human nature I have had a play with Expert but see no difference . The server I play on pings at 17-20 and the steady ping graph shows around 27 steady . However if I change to expert and add 50 as a trial nothing changes , the steady ping remains at 27 same server mentioned . I think I am doing everything right so not sure why it does not change . I am not on the beta but currrently on .20 no desire to change that right now as everything is perfect . Just curious on the expert functionality Thanks

Pro Innocence
I have a similar experience. However when I do add a higher number in expert, it shows in game that the ping is higher but the graph remains the same. It still plays flawlessly though so I am not to bothered at the moment. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 5 Administrators Share Posted January 5 Try this, remove the console from the Geo-Filter and in the Device Manager change it to a PC then re-add it to the Geo-Filter, does it work better then?
