Ping, jitter and speed worse than ISP router (steady ping disabled)

I noticed since switching to the R3 my ping was a few ms worse in games and not as stable as when using the ISP router (EE Smart Hub Plus). I initially thought this was a symptom of having the R3 connected through the ISP router (currently required due to getting slow speeds on R3 with PPPoE). I have since tested both configurations and get consistantly worse ping, jitter and speeds when using the netduma in either configuration. I have steady ping disabled despite it reactivating every time the R3 reboots which is rather annoying and tried testing with smart boost on and off.

Using ping, jitter and speed tests to confirm,

Modem > ISP Router = 16-18ms ping,  always less than 1ms jitter and always over 900Mbps on speed tests.

Modem > ISP Router > Netduma R3 = 16-26ms ping, always over 2ms jitter and between 650-800Mbps on speed tests.

Modem > Netduam R3 = 16-28ms ping, around 2ms jitter and since firmware update am getting 600-800Mbps on speedtests.

Is there anything I can do to improve this as I currently seem to be getting worse performance with the R3 than with my ISP Router which is surprising as I expected the opposite.

I'm having this exact issue thought it was time of day but its definitely the router through put. All disabled I.e. smartqos ping optimiser even though this shouldn't effect speed tests. I even set the speedtest back to 1gbps up and down so it's at full power........

I think this may be a tad too much for the hardware. Would have rather paid more for a premium product and software vs ehat may end up being returned.

I've done many tests and also get anywhere from 600 to 800mb. As soon as I plug in my old xr500 I get 900 plus instantly

No other activity on the network when testing, I disconnected all other devices apart from the PC running the tests and have tested with smart boost enabled and disabled with no differences and also tried manually entering my speeds instead of using the built in speed test.

What about Congestion Control? As that is the main feature that will help with this.
