Yes, it was working fine and tbh the overall experience of the R3 felt better before the update 4.0.19.. just thought i'd mention it as the R3 recognising gaming traffic is quite important

Obvs, this is after playing CoD for a few hours today

I noticed this yesterday, but only when I had the router server open in a multi tabbed browser (Brave), so I thought I would see what happened when I opened it in its own window the problem went away. This could be coincidence, I don't know, though I did notice that when I went to another tab, it stopped working properly. I haven't tried to recreate the fault in any other way.

Thanks for the reports, I will pass this onto the team to take a look at

I have tested my theory about tabbed browser window, and however: Weird, silly, odd it sounds, I can actually make it do what was described all the time. Have a look at my findings:-

So:-

1-Multitabwindow.thumb.png.72b0094163baf58cef8b6c994cfd04f7.png

pic 1: I started a call of Duty MW3 game with the Geo filter page in a multi tabbed (Brave) widow, and. thats what happened, geo filter stopped working. and during the time the game was playing, I reloaded the page and it stayed exactly as you can see in the pic.

2-movedtabtosinglewindow.thumb.png.503d83bbe0663163c88535b5265f3090.png

Pic 2: I moved the Geo filter page to a window of its and refreshed, I done this just to demonstrate that it wouldn't reload and work.

3-Backtosingletabbedwindow.thumb.png.a28483bcc59c28e34c8fe0eba633f62a.png

Pic 3: I started a new game of COD MW3, after reloading the page and not in a lobby, with the geo filter page in its own window, and thats what happened. every thing back to normal.

I have done this more times than shown here, and every time the same thing happens. When geofilter is in a multi window it stops working (for me), the game still plays. though not as good as it does when the geofilter is working, hit detection is rubbish, and gameplay is nothing like when it is working as it should.

I have done more than these tests, and every time I have had the same results.

I hope this a) makes sense, and b) helps?

That's very interesting thank you, I will pass it onto the team to see if they can reproduce this experience and isolate the cause.

Mine showing no historical activity data. Phone or browser but otherwise R3 working as expected. Only showing NOW current data.

We're looking into that currently.

Got the same issue as well and I'm on v4.0.20. Geo Filter is not working properly for me at all. Keeps connecting me outside the filter.

This should cover the issue: https://forum.netduma.com/topic/52852-netduma-r3-launch-faqs/

Is there a V4.0.20 I have only got V4.0.19?

  • 3 weeks later...

i recently purchased the R3 and installed it yesterday. i have noticed that the "gaming activity" is not showing any date while playing COD or Apex on PS5? also, when i got to smartboost it shows my PS5 as inactive while  active online. have not messed with the router other then going to "DHCP" and reserved Ip's for my devices. last one, i have very poor wifi compared to my old XR100 and XR500 is this normal? i did order a wifi extender but just want to confirm if the R3 should have the same distance as the other two routers i mentioned.

On SmartBOOST when you're playing is it actually detecting and prioritizing traffic and so just not being shown or is it not prioritizing at all?

The WiFi should be comparable yes, try this:

  • Split the bands, give 2.4/5GHz different names and apply - you'll want to connect to 5GHz specifically for speeds
  • Use a WiFi analyzer to find the least congested channel and change to that
  • Experiment with the widths to see what gives better results
  • Ensure it's in an elevated position - not on a metal surface
  • Ensure there aren't any electrical / wireless devices e.g headphones etc within close proximity ~3 feet if possible
  • Set the antennae to this position _ | | _

on smartboost i see that "Gaming" is showing online but when i switch over to devices it shows the PS5 as offline but last night i went over to advance ping settings and switch the congestion control mode to "always on" and that triggered the PS5 to finally show up as online under smartboost. not sure if thats what i need to do going forward?

i split the bands per your instructions. i am a noob at this but could you tell me where to find the Wifi Analyzer? once i run this test will it tell me what channel to set it up to?

last night i ran a ping optimizer few times and it put my download & upload sliders to 99% for download and 99% for upload. does that seem normal? i have cox internet 1g download and 40 upload. loving the router so far just the wifi thing worries me. in my household we do have multiples devices (same as before with the other routers) rings security system, tablets, iphones, printer.

You shouldn't need to do that but most likely it restarted some backend systems which made it work.

You can find a free WiFi analyzer on the Microsoft Store for Windows called WiFi Analyzer. It won't tell you what channel to use but you can see which channels are being used around you and then pick one that isn't being used that isn't close to others or the one that is being used the least.

You do have high speeds so CC is needed less so could be a legit suggestion but you can always try adjusting manually to see what gives you the best results.
