  1. Have you had a DumaOS router before?
  2. What ping were you seeing there before and what do you see now?
  3. How have you setup the router with your network - are ALL devices connected to the R3? Have you done anything on the ISP modem/router to ensure an Open NAT when connecting through the R3?
  4. Have you setup the Geo-Filter?
  5. Have you setup Smart Boost?

For both of you this could be Steady Ping as your ping isn't actually much higher:

"Steady Ping smoothens out your gaming connection using the same approach as suspension in a car. By adding a small buffer to balance out any variation, the bumps and stutters you would usually feel in the game will be completely eliminated.

When you connect to a game, Steady Ping will take a few seconds to stabilise your connection. Once youā€™re stabilised, check out your ping to the host: on the chart, you can see how unstable your ping wouldā€™ve been on the bottom, and what your current ping is above.

In the rare case that Steady Ping canā€™t stabilise the host, your gameplay will be unaffected and proceed as normal. Since your average ping will only be increased by ~8ms to achieve rock-solid gameplay, there really is no down-side."

Also if you're measuring using the Ping Optimizer it uses a different server than you would normally use so depending on where this is located in relation to you it may read higher but doesn't mean your overall ping is higher.

@Jakerod12Ā if you still have issues/think that's not it please make a new topic and we can continue there

So Steady Ping adds around 20ms of latency by the looks of it in order to average out the overall ping? So if I'm getting like 12-13ms of latency on Overwatch, I'm going to end up with 30+ms? As long as I can turn off Steady Ping if it becomes a detriment, I'm all good. But thanks for sharing this.
Nevertheless, can't wait to see how it helps in the overall gaming experience.

Would be nice if we can get a Gameplay example to see exactly how Steady Ping makes a difference in a game. My ping has always been stable to begin with that even Ping Optimizer couldn't help improve my connection. So I can't really tell what the experience is like to have sudden high spikes when gaming feels like without Steady Ping.

I hope the overall outcome will still be a positive one especially for mobile gaming.

I think it's about 8ms on average but you can adjust this with expert mode from 0 - 80ms and of course you can disable it as well but yes the idea is to give you one consistent ping so you never experience jitter or spikes

You very well could have extreme amounts of jitter that you didn't see before in game as in game ping counter typically shows the average. The ping in ms on Duma is your active ping, not the average. So in game though, you are now seeing steady ping artificially add a buffer to deal with jitter or "variance" in your connection. Hope this helps, but lowest of low ping doesn't mean good. Stability is key for gaming because even a 15-20 ms spike in game, may not be noticeable to your eye, but the server, it feels it, which means your gameplay feels it.
