JoshTheLuz
Hey everyone, I've come across a pretty annoying issue while using my Netduma R2 router, and I need your help. So, here's the deal: whenever I try to add a custom IP address in the Ping Heatmap section, it just doesn't work. Like, seriously, nothing happens when I enter the IP address and enable the custom list. It's driving me nuts! To break it down for you, when I enter a specific IP address in the field where it says "Ping Heatmap" > "Custom List" and hit that "Add IP Address" button, my router doesn't ping the IP address I entered. And as a result, I don't see any data or results related to that custom IP address on the Ping Heatmap. I've tried multiple times, tried different IP addresses, but it's like banging my head against a wall. Everything else in the Ping Heatmap seems to be working fine. It's just this darn custom IP address feature that's giving me trouble. Has anyone else faced this issue or maybe found a way around it? I'm all ears for any suggestions or tips to sort out this mess. Thanks a ton for your attention and support.
Fuzy
Hi ! @JoshTheLuz I had never tried that! THANKS @Netduma Fraser should a simple ping 8.8.8.8 be marked on the map?
TrayDay
I haven't done this in a while. But, I just tried on .208 firmware version and the IP address is indeed failing the ping. In the screenshot, you will notice it says 'failed' bottom right of the screenshot. I also have a pingplotter in the image showing a ping, but I'm not receiving any info for the IP address, only a traceroute.
TrayDay
@JoshTheLuz I think I may have found what's going on with your situation. When you added your IP ADDRESS. You didn't add the IP NAME and click the "+" address. Now, Where it says 'IP NAME' add the IP address for the IP NAME. Then click the plus sign. I'm still not receiving any info for the IP you given Fuzy
DARKNESS
TRIED THAT AS WELL IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY THE WAY THEY FIND THE PING IS DIFFERENT WAY THAN YOU WOULD IT IS BY HOSTING THE SERVER AND PINGING IT FROM THE DEVICE THAT IT BEING RAN ON I MIGHT BE WRONG THOUGH I FORGET...WHICH IS WHY IT BASED ON CLOUD DATA BASE IF YOUR TRYING TO GET ACCURATE DATA YOU CAN TRY PING PLOTTER THOUGH I BELIEVE YOU WON'T GET ALL THE INFO SINCE IT GET BLOCKED BY EITHER THE ISP OR THE COMPANY THAT RUNS THE SERVERS THIS IS DO TO DDOS ATTACKS ETC NOT THAT IT MATTERS TOO MUCH WHEN YOUR ABLE TO SEE THE SERVER WHEN YOUR CONNECTED AND THE PING I REFERRING TO IN-GAME YOU CAN BLAME HACKERS FOR THIS ISSUE.... Fuzy
Thanks @TrayDay I was wondering what could correspond to certain server icons on the geo-filter which appeared sporadically... It is simply the DNS! TrayDay

Tray has explained the reason why your server isn't being shown & also not pinged but that's just part of it. I suspect the IP you're trying to ping is a game server potentially for CoD is that right? If so they don't allow you to directly ping their servers that's why it fails. What you would need to do in this instance is ping the game normally using heatmap, click the server location/IP from the list on the right. Then scroll down where the box for that server will have appeared, then click add to list and save it to your custom list. By doing it this way, Ping Heatmap then knows it's a CoD game server and will use our workaround that allows us to ping the server.

You won't be able to do that then unfortunately as they won't respond to normal pings.
