Can’t connect to a game using geo filter

The games I am able to connect to are when the geofilter is off. These games have pings that vary from 70-115.

if the CA servers were mislocatrd wouldn’t I be able to connect to them when I have the geofilter off?

I was thinking that the CA servers are only resurgence servers and not the BR. I can get into a resurgence game immediately with sub 20 ping.

Yes that's what I mean, I thought it's possible they could be mislocated on the map and actually appear on the East but the ping is too high for that to be the case. We have had a few reports of that but I'm unsure why they would have done that - maybe it's the more popular playlist currently

Just a thought, should I deny each east coast server I connect to. Maybe eventually I will connect to a west coast server?

It's possible but it could just prevent you getting a game entirely but worth a try!

I have exactly the same problem..so i've bought Netduma R2 yesterday for Warzone reason only..i'm stay in Doha, Qatar..and without Netduma it always immediately connected to Plunder / Resurgence modes with like 20-30 ping..but Battle Royale / Vanguard royale with like 140 ping at least..so that's was the primary reason I bought the router, cause I tought I could force it to connect to the same server as Plunder / Resurgence to play Battle Royale / Vanguard royale..but I guess that server is only for those two modes only, or maybe it's cause of my high K/D (only two ideas I got)..cause it always connects me to European servers for some reason when I try to play Battle Royale / Vanguard royale

With Netduma R2, it finds the same server on the map that I connect to for Plunder / Resurgance also for Battle Royale / Vanguard royale..but it's always skipping it for some reason..shows on the map and then it dissapears..even with the distance set correctly or using polygon mode..it always wants to connect to Europe servers..the only difference that when I have strict mode on I never connect then, it goes into infinite loop and it never connects then even to European servers, cause I set it like that to not connect to then.

And I am using Xbox Series X by the way (NAT Type: Open).

I'll try and make a video how it looks like, cause I don't know if I explained it well enough.

Link to video:

https://streamable.com/syodns

Only waited from Searching for a match <18ms ping on the video till Searching for a match <117ms ping..cause it goes on higher, higher and higher before reseting and going from Searching for a match <18ms ping again.

PS: the two approved servers are the one from Plunder / Resurgance where i have like 20-30 ping

And I see I'm not the only one with this problem:

Hey, welcome to the forum!

As you've rightly pointed out others are having this issue and given it happens without a DumaOS router and even trying to force a server for a long time it seems that for some reason they have reduced the amount of servers catering to the BR playlist. The only reason I can see them doing that is if the playlist is less popular but it's not something we can do anything about if the servers are not available.

Thank you for your reply. Yes exactly. I'm gonna write to Call of Duty support now. Everybody else do the same please that's gonna read this and has the same problem. It's the only way we can actually do something about it.

Best regards.

Wanted to follow up with this post.

I still can’t connect to a California server, unless it’s on rebirth. I think this is more SBMM related than anything. I’ve tried expanding my geofilter more and more until I  reach 3000 km. At best I connect to a Texas server and get 70 ping. The more strict I make it, I will never reach a game. I just basically play with the geo filter off now since it will not work.

You could be right about SBMM, try making a new account and then test with the Geo-Filter on and see if you're able to get West Coast servers, that would be the ultimate test

Well it does not appear to be SBMM. I made a new account and it’s exactly the same. At best I connect to the same Texas server which gives me 70 ping. Or if I try to tighten up my geofilter to force a California server I’ll be waiting for ever.

Is there anyone on a PC on the west coast that can connect to a west coast server?

Sounds like the servers have been taken down for the moment then unfortunately

Fraser, I have a question..have been playing around for over one month now with the router trying all different kind of methods and I still haven't been able to find a proper way to always get connected to lowest BR ping servers..so i'm based in Doha, Qatar..and the lowest ping servers for me for Warzone BR are in Singapore (pic attached)..when I put my Home to Singapore, or if I use polygon mode or draw around Singapore, it still very rarely connects me to those servers when I queue up for BR matches (but it does happen sometimes..and these servers are always peer servers)..and the ping assist I put on 100, since the ping there is sub 100 for me (also tried higer  / lower ping assist, it doesn't help) ..and I put it on Strict mode and Fast search disabled..the problem is that I noticed that there are servers for Rebirth / Plunder / Clash / Base servers in Saudi Arabia right next to me, where I have very low ping..cause initially when you start the game the it's loading the game it connect to those  base servers to download the profile (you know when it says fetching profile etc. initially)..and when that happens very rarely does it connect to Singapore servers then..only once, I dunno how I succeded that initialy when I booted the game that it initially connected to Singapore servers with polygon mode and then immediately after that it connected to those low ping BR servers..and then after the game finished, it connected again to those close base servers and queueing into a BR game didn't work anymore as intended after that like before..I noticed that it doesn't help if I block those initial base servers, cause it still somehow connects to them.

So I need to find a way to not get connected to these nearby close base servers before queing into a game, cause the block function doesn't work for them as intented. Cause Geo Filter On or Off it's gonna connect to them 99% of the time cause they are the closest / right next to me..the problem are these initial base servers that the game connect to..is there a solution we can find not to get connected to them, cause blocking them / putting home address to Singapore / drawing polygon around Singapore doesn't do anything to not get connected to them ?

Can you send over a screenshot of how you've currently got Geo-filter configured too? What Ping are you getting to those servers in/around Europe?

Ideally it would be best to set a radius to cover the local servers and have Ping Assist accommodate for the rest. That should work, it'd be best to see your current config to see if there's anything else.

Hello Liam, thank you for your prompt response.

Problem is there are no local BR servers here in Middle East..they only exist for Rebirth / Clash / Plunder where I have like 20 ping..we discussed that a little bit up in this topic (look at my previous two posts and then Fraser's last response to me)..99% it connects me to European servers where I have like 140-150 ping, which is way too much for my standards..90-100 I could still swallow it somehow, the servers in Singapore, which I do sometimes connect to, but rarely (and they are stated as peer servers, when I connect to them)..all other BR servers that I usually connect to are dedicated servers which have high ping.

So the problem are the intial base servers that you connect to initially when you start the game, where it downloads your profile from / interacts with the store etc. (last pic, circled in green..and second to last pic is all of them blocked, which doesn't help at all..it connects to them in 99% of cases).

I need to find a way how to effectively block these initial servers (circled in green on the pic), which I do have blocked but it doesn't help at all.

OK yeah I see, if you click on the server that you don't seem to be able to deny, does it's ID match that which you have in your deny list? It may be that it's a cluster of servers and you need to block a few of them.

Yep, I always crosscheck, it always matches. It's only 4 of them. Don't know how your stuff works though, but maybe deny option doesn't work for base servers and only works for actual game servers ?

Cause on ping heatmap, these servers don't even exist...

Although, when I did the ping heatmap test like 1 week ago, the servers were showing (but again, those were only Rebirth / Clash / Plunder / Base ones..no BR)..don't know why, but only one time till now they were showing up on ping heatmap.

And yes I did Resync / flush the cloud for both Geo filter and Ping Heatmap.

No it should definitely be denying them. I'll pass their IDs over to my colleague and we'll check that they're not whitelisted by mistake.

The data between Ping Heatmap and Geo-filter may differ as they're updated and maintained slightly differently.

Sounds good, please let me know what you find out with the team.

No they're not whitelisted, that's strange.

Out of interest, if you use radius mode instead of polygon mode, do these servers still get through?

I know you might've tried this previously, but since there will have been cloud updates since then could you please complete the below steps and see if that helps:

  1. Quit the application/game/client completely
  2. Remove device from the Geo-Filter
  3. Resync from the Geo-Filter Map menu
  4. Re-add the device to the Geo-Filter with the manual option
  5. Set up the Geo-Filter how you like
  6. Wait 2 minutes
  7. Boot up application/game/client

It actually worked yesterday this sequence for 1 game and then I didn't have the time to play anymore..never tried this exact sequence before..but now Singapore servers are 260 for some reason since this morning and it still connects to the blocked servers maybe because of that..will update you once Singapore servers are back to normal and if the block list starts working once more then.

If you're wanting to connect to some servers but not others you will have to set Ping Assist to 0, you cannot effectively force servers with that enabled. If I've understood correctly then do the following:

  1. Quit the application/game/client completely
  2. Remove device from the Geo-Filter
  3. Resync from the Geo-Filter Map menu
  4. Re-add the device to the Geo-Filter with the manual option
  5. Set Ping Assist to 0
  6. Set Polygon over Singapore
  7. Wait 2 minutes
  8. Boot up application/game/client
  9. Once booted up and you're in the lobby able to search, set Polygon over SA
  10. Search for a game

See if that works better for you
