constant packet loss symbols

Recommended Posts

during warzone i notice that i get constant packet loss symbols yet my friends who have their standard isp routers have absolutely none. i notice moments of lag with my router configured the way all the guides have recommended

the XR100 has been a lie.

so many faults that other people have with this router as well.

What is your exact physical setup? Do you have a pure modem (no wifi) or a modem/router (wifi)? If the latter have you set it up for the XR to get an Open NAT and are ALL devices connected to the XR?

What are your QoS and Geo-Filter settings? What is your average ping as shown by the Geo-Filter? Do you see this spiking when the symbols appear?

Absolutely nothing to add other than it is a lie. I'm on XR500 with constant packet burst (the three squares in the left corner) there are no fixes, I've been trying for nearly three months now. Moved from my Virgin ISP router where it never happened on the promise of even better ping, QOS and all the other benefits. None of that was true, the only positive is the hardware is great so my WiFi devices are covered throughout the house.

If you look at reviews nobody actually shows you Duma improving anything they are all just setup videos. Maybe I took the marketing the wrong way and Duma is purely software that gives you options, not necessarily improvements, you wouldn't think that reading the advertising.

I feel for the tech support because they try to help but know how inferior Duma really is.

I would recommend you make a new topic and let us know your settings/setup etc as you should definitely have a good connection when it is all setup correctly.

I have buddy, done quite a few. You've been helping me try things but nothing works. From everything off to on and everything in between.

No WiFi calling, Citrix doesn't work and the in game lag, none of which were present on the Virgin ISP router.

No one can show me a video or example of an ISP router's stats/performance then move to the Duma and show any improvements to that performance.

Is this after upgrading to the firmware Fraser has suggested?

Just adding my 2 cents here. I’ve noticed big gaming improvements over the R8000 Nighthawk. Been a game changer for me playing online, I think it’s unfair to say that DumaOS doesn’t work considering there are a lot of people who have seen benefits from it, like myself.

Would be good to see some details listed out in terms of your setup and settings rather than a triggered post. To be fair, the response time of the Netduma team on here is phenomenal and I’ve never seen a company being this active in their forums so it’s a bit unfair to completely bash the product when it could just be your setup/ settings. The issues I’ve had, they’ve really helped me out and now it’s a great experience.

the file says its for the xr500, can i still use this for the xr1000?

thanks

No you can't, I think Liam thought you were the previous poster as your pictures are similar. Your Geo-Filter distance is very big, we usually recommend 1000km. Are ALL devices connected to the XR?

Duma OS doesn't work. What "big gaming improvements" have you had over the RX8000? That's as generic as me saying it doesn't work though I provide the evidence of it not working you haven't of it being great.

Like I have said above I've posted numerous times with granular detail so not quite sure what you mean, I also praise the Duma tech support so again not sure what you mean.

Show me your setup pre and post and what improvements you have had, or an actual review where the Duma improves performance.

XR500 hardware is fantastic, the software is not.

I'd recommend you follow this guide: http://support.netduma.com/en/support/solutions/articles/16000074717-how-to-test-your-internet-ping

Try it by first not using QoS, just downloading/streaming etc, see how your ping rises, even play a game and see how that is. Then try with Congestion Control and see how much the ping drops by and how much more stable it is.

yes all devices are, i play with some friends in who live in the Netherlands and it takes forever to find a match so 2000km is the only option where it has a bearable waiting time.

Are you seeing similar issues across all games or is this just on FIFA? I know we've been looking into some issues lately with FIFA and Geo-filter.

I would recommend instead placing your home location/radius over servers that are in between you all, that will then increase each of your pings a little but will be more fair and should speed up load times.

That makes sense then, I believe the PS4 just can't keep up anymore. I had these issues for months on warzone, constant packet burst symbol and lag. It was one of the reasons I got an xr300. I tried everything but nothing really got rid of it. As soon as I got my ps5 the issues pretty much disappeared. I still use the PS4 as well and that struggles especially when playing in a fast lobby with m/k players. The fact the ps5 runs fine and the PS4 struggles on the same network shows the PS4 pro just can't keep up. I even fit an SSD to my ps4 but it made no difference.

XR500 hardware is fantastic, the software is not.

I used to get disconnected from games as the router couldn't handle 2 xbox's on the same router. Party chat issues with disconnected, high ping, random ping spikes, etc.

The XR1000 that I use has lowered our ping in COD by about 15-20ms (seems to now average around 30 - 50ms rather than 50 - 70ms). Not had any disconnects during a game, ping remains constant and the connection is very stable.

The settings I'm running are fairly standard:

NAT: set to Open
Set up static IP's for both consoles.
Congestion Control: Download and Upload set to 70%
Bandwidth Allocation: Download and Upload - put gaming up to 23% and left everything else as is.
Geo-Filter: 726km

Are you running your XR500 through an ISP router/modem combo?

Router goes through a Virgin Super Hub 4. I have a 1Gbps connection with no connectivity issues at all when I run my PC through that. I bought the XR500 for the extra 5ghz channel and the Duma features, none of which work.

I've spent months trying every iteration of every setting but nothing sorts the issues. Beta firmware, reinstall firmware the lot.

It's a gimmick at best. I have taken it to my friends house and tested it on his FTH BT gigabit connection and the same happens, spikey internet constant orange boxes.

I don't think it can handle the speed personally but I'm sure i'll be told it can.

Sad thing is no matter how many times you ask for tangible measured improvements that the XR or any Duma OS router offers they can't show it they merely show a feature set not improvements.
