Welcome to the forum!

Bungie have recently made some changes to their servers that means Geo-filter isn't working very well with Destiny, we have been looking into this for a while now but these changes are essentially security upgrades so it's very difficult and time-consuming to find a work-around for it. Could you test Geo-filter with some different games and make sure your issue is purely limited to Destiny?

I have constant issues when using Geo-filter with Destiny 2.  One of the following two things happens every time I try to use geo-filter.

1.  I'm booted to orbit as I'm flying into a match (usually beaver error)

2.  I get into the match but my connection is so hindered it's unplayable.

I'm sure all those here that play destiny are familiar with the connection status bar.  Well next time you use geo-filter check your connections status bar while you're in a match.  Chances are the bar is barely visible or at the very least cut in half.  Not sure why geo-filter does that.

Geo-filter seems to work fine as far as getting you paired with hosts that are in your search area but if it destroys your connection what's the point?

It's likely blocking a server or players and therefore can't accurately determine the ping bar. We're taking a look at it but as Liam said it's a difficult problem.

Ok I will post this in an attempt to hopefully help speed up a fix. I have an XR300. The only way that my geofilter works is if I run the original stock firmware XR300-V1.0.1.4_10.1.4   I have tried every other firmware update and none of them work successfully for me. So perhaps the Devs can look at what is different in that firmware from all the other to glean an idea on how to fix this for all the other routers. Anyway, thats just my experience. I tested it earlier today to make sure. I turned the filter on, set my location to the middle of the ocean. ANd loaded up the strikes playlist. It searched and searched then successfully launched into the strike by myself.  Now, I know you guys say thats not he intention of the geofilter, and I get that. But thats my best way to test if its working for me or not. Anyway, hopes this helps.

Doesn't really make much sense as the XR300 really hasn't had the Geo-Filter changed much across versions and they'll all be using the same cloud data. What specifically do you notice is different between the versions on the Geo-Filter? Any servers that appear allowed or blocked that make it work/break it that you've noticed?

The filter doesnt work at all with any of the newer firmware. If I turn it on, and launch a strike, I get teammates. Again I know this isnt he designed intent, but its how I gauge the filter to be working. Only the original firmware give me, my desired results. Thats why I decided to share my experience, to hopefully give someone who knows more about this stuff the info they might need. Im not super computer savvy. I know a little about a lot and the rest I look up online. When I run my set up this way, I have the filter on, the location in the middle of the ocean. I have strict turned on as well. With no whitelisting. Ive done whitelisting int he past but it doesnt seem to matter much. The onyl problem I have is occasionally being thrown out of parties or ppl joining my party and they just keep showing connecting. I solve this by letting everyone join first then turning the filter on. The random booting is annoying but, my friends just invite me back.
