When will my xr500 work 100% of the time ??

Recommended Posts

My frustration w/ this router has now brought me to this forum.  Everyday I log into the netduma software and find something else not working.  Last week I couldn't even log in so I guess I should be happy I have access this week.  I paid 300.00 for this pos back oct 2018 and its progressively gotten worse every update.  Basic router functions seem to work okay but the software is horrendous.  Issues list..  -Device manager not working -  All items that are connected to wifi seem to stay and work correctly.  Items that are hardwired to my xr500/ ps4 pro / omen pc appear offline when I'm using them.  A power cycle of the modem seems to get everything in order for about a day then its backs to the same old shit of appearing offline. junk!   - Geo Filter -   I literally just FACTORY reset yesterday, added my ps pro back to the filter and its gone today on my log in.  The radar is just spinning, and no hosts appear. Junk!  -Speeds- I have 600 DL comcast package.  I can run a Ethernet cable straight to my pc from modem and receive close to said speeds (400-500 DL)  but as soon the router is in the mix I'm no where near the speeds I should be. I just ran Speedtest.net and I have a 50DL lol. Junk!  Last week I couldn't even log into the software had to download old firmware for a temp fix. FUCKN JUNK!  The software has been so slow over the last month and change. Often options like DM, Geo Filter etc don't even open. The software will just sit and spin and never open. Junk!  like I said the very basic function of this router routing bandwidth to my tvs and iphones seem to work everything does not.  The amount of money I paid for this router is should be working flawlessly. 😩

Hey, welcome to the forum & Happy Holidays!

The device manager is an issue we're aware of an so will be fixing, the only workarounds are to reboot when this happens or downgrade to a previous firmware and it won't occur.

Unless the device was completely deleted from the Device Manager then it definitely shouldn't have been removed from the Geo-Filter, did you delete it?

Have you speed up the speeds you're supposed to get in the Bandwidth options of Anti-Bufferbloat? Are you also using Anti-Bufferbloat as that will lower your speeds but this is normal.

On the System Information page in the R-App panel options set the retry attempts to 5 and then reboot the router. After that use Google Chrome as it's our most recommended browser and clear the cache/cookies, does it perform better then?

Even after another factory reset yesterday the setup walkthrough speed test only detected 200 DL and multi attempts after the speeds kept lowering.  I manually entered 400DL and 10 up.  Have the sliders at 70%. I absolutely did not delete the ps4 pro from the filter option. it was added right after the factory reset and setup and prioritized.  The bs last week of us xr500 owners not being able to sign into the net duma program, I used older firmware per your post AND STILL THE DEVICE MANAGER was showing hardwired items offline. After the factory reset yesterday I applied the new firmware thinking you guys fixed everything, my bad.  Reverting back to watv firmware you recommend, please advise..

If you disable QoS completely from Anti-Bufferbloat options and do a wired speed test what results do you get? I meant if the device was deleted/removed from the Device Manager then that could have caused it, i.e. when you noticed that it had been removed from the Geo-Filter was it still showing in the device manager even if it was showing offline? If you didn't reboot after that downgrade then you would have needed to do so and then they should show offline/online correctly from then on. We were only fixing the interface access issue, it wasn't a new firmware upgrade. .32 should be fine to use if needed, just do a factory reset afterwards as that's good practice when doing an upgrade/downgrade.

Router works perfectly fine for me.  To be fair, in order to use this product effeciently, you need a certain level of technical know-how.

Lol, I have an edgerouterx which requires 10x the know-how and I have it working perfectly. The xr500 is garbage. Pure and simple. Why do you post the same stuff in every thread? Are you paid by netduma or are you just a homer?

The edge router x is a $60 router that has none of the advanced gaming features DumaOS has.  So what exactly was your point?
