Turboshoturass
Wondering what settings would control jitter in Speedtest. I have been noticing some pretty high jitter sometimes as high as 20ms when I usually had very little around 1.5ms
Administrators Netduma Alex Posted September 24, 2019 Administrators Share Posted September 24, 2019 In my experience, turning Anti-Bufferbloat to around 70% can reduce jitter by setting a cap on the low side of the fluctuation.
BIG__DOG
How are you performing your speed test, are you wired or wifi? Also what site/software are you using? The best method to test jitter is to run pingplotter. A screenshot would also help diagnosis.
Turboshoturass
I was at 70% anti buffet bloat. I have yet to get PingPlotter to work very well on my phone, but iPhone X couple feet away from router on Speedtest.net app I would see on the main servers from me almost no jitter. I lowered anti buffer bloat and things stayed the same. I will try and move my desktop to get wired connection.
Turboshoturass
Now I have been getting jitter in Speedtest.net and on pingplotter I get fluctuations of around 15ms most of the time.
Administrators Netduma Alex Posted September 25, 2019 Administrators Share Posted September 25, 2019 Very strange. Do you think it could be due to other devices on your network using data in little bursts?
Turboshoturass
I doubt it I’ve checked it with no devices active. I have a 500mbps down 30 up cable connection and use a sb8200 modem
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted September 25, 2019 Administrators Share Posted September 25, 2019 Disable IPv6 and try again please. Also try when directly connected to the modem itself and see if you get the same issues. It's important to try wired on modem and router, if there is no issue there then its probably WiFi congestion/contention
