kava05
hi my xr500 is connected to the fibre box but every time i turn on GEO FILTER my xbox one nat type is unavailable please help
Administrators Netduma Alex Posted July 23, 2019 Administrators Share Posted July 23, 2019 As a test, put the Xbox One's IP address into the DMZ and see if you get open NAT. If you do, then we can do some port forwarding to get your NAT open permanently as using DMZ long term isn't recommended, although you could do it. Administrators Netduma Alex Posted July 24, 2019 Administrators Share Posted July 24, 2019 So this fibre box that your XR500 is connected to, that's just a modem right? As in it's not a standalone router with WiFi?
kava05
im not using any modem just my router connecting to the fibre box
Administrators Netduma Alex Posted July 25, 2019 Administrators Share Posted July 25, 2019 Your ISP aren't using carrier grade NAT are they?
kava05
sorry what do you mean? my nat type is open if i dont use geo filter but i need geo filter because if i search for a match on cod4 keeps putting me to the usa server and for geo filter turned on my latency on xbox one going from 130ms to 202ms
Administrators Netduma Alex Posted July 26, 2019 Administrators Share Posted July 26, 2019 Oh sorry I misunderstood. Okay well I think what's likely happening is that the Xbox is using Microsoft servers to check the NAT type, and the Geo-Filter is probably blocking whatever server it uses to do this check. kava05
how do i get it open? i need geo filter on so i dont get put in to the usa server
Administrators Netduma Alex Posted July 26, 2019 Administrators Share Posted July 26, 2019 Does it matter that your NAT type says unavailable? It might actually be open but Microsoft just can't detect it.
kava05
with nat type unavailable i get disconnected in the party chat
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted July 27, 2019 Administrators Share Posted July 27, 2019 The Geo-Filter is likely just causing a misreading but it's actually open. The party chat issue is likely because you haven't added your friends to your allow list, if you add them does it work correctly then?

Do you see anything blocked on the Geo-Filter when you get disconnected?
