Ping Assist on BO4 set to 30 connecting to 50ms+ server?

Recommended Posts

I have ping assist set to 30ms , and still server is connecting to servers with 50+ms ping ? i dont have Fast search on, i have filtering mode and strict mode selected.  So why is this continuing to connect to servers in excess of 30ms ? i have it setup just like  (http://support.netduma.com/support/solutions/articles/16000087579--dumaos-optimal-settings-guide-ping-assist-step-2-1-) says to.  it seems this has just starting happening alot over the past few weeks, im not aware of any router update etc.  Please let me know what is needed to fix this so im not connecting to servers half way accross the country.

thanks

Vinman

Also, when it connects me to one of these servers, like one in florida and im in Arizona. i select to DENY it and it shows up in my deny list, but when i exit and reconnect it throws me right back into the server that shows denied on my  allow/deny list  ? how is that even possible ? is something broken ?  please advise anyone who has an idea

thx

If when it first pings the server it detects it as being under the limit even if after a few seconds it's then higher than the limit then it would allow it. Do you get any games under your limit? You would need to wait roughly 2 minutes after denying before researching to ensure the connection to the server has been terminated. Also are you certain it's the exact same server? Its rare to get the same one. They often have many servers clustered in the same location, the ID may be very similar.

I used to get pretty much all the time it would show under the ping limit in the router dashboard for the host (the game would always show like 15-20ms higher , so router shows 30, game shows 45-50) but last week or 2 it seems almost all the games the router is showing 50-60 + on host and then game is in the 70-80s or 90s.  Yes i confirmed the ID was identical but i wasnt waiting 2 min, i would leave the bad game and then have it go find another one, it will throw me right back in.  Also i tried turning off the Ping search, went back to the normal geofilter circle around AZ/California i had been using before this was available, and it was attaching to servers outside the circle ?  with strict enabled and filtering mode ? how is that possible ?  any other ideas ? please let me know

Both sound like the timing issue to me. Wait 2 minutes when you've denied one. For Ping Assist turn off the game or console turn ping assist off and wait 2 minutes then boot it up again. If it continues after that please provide a full page screenshot of the Geo-Filter.

I turned off the ping filter set it to 0,  set geofilter to 325 miles around AZ/California as you can see in screen shot, it then picked a server in middle of the US? although Ping was very good, not sure how. this is the next game i connected to

In these screenshots we can't see that Ping Assist is set to 0ms. Not to doubt you, but I've never before seen a single case where servers show with the 'Ping Assist' circle around them (and you're allowed to connect to them) despite Ping Assist being set to 0ms. The only other thing to consider would be a reboot - if you haven't rebooted your console, or maybe even the router itself, Ping Assist might somehow still be applied.

Can you confirm that Strict Mode is enabled as well?

it was set to 0 i havent rebooted the Router in awhile, this isnt a console its a PC, it just says console since that is how the instructions said to set it up.  ill see about rebooting the router later tonight to see if that clears up anything
