tjl118
hey everyone When i got my netduma and went through the setup process i did a speed test. The results showed that i had a download of half of what i pay for. the speed i pay for is 120 down and 24 up. however the speed test with netduma connected was 57 down and 20 up. I have comcast cable internet to add. I contacted my ISP and we did a series of different things to get the correct speed. even got a new modem from the ISP and did several speed test just connected to modem which gave good results. No matter what we did the netduma would not show my speeds at what i pay for. Is there anything I can do? because it cant be the ISP issue since everything was fine on there end. Could my router have an issue and I need to send it back for replacement? any answer would be fantastic to shed some light on this because i have no idea what is going on. tjl118
Would this article, in your opinion be the best for gaming. Does it still process packets as well when u disable deep packet processing? Should I stick to my current setup that has preemptive as setting?

All that the packet processing does is help with the VPN for source based games and also provide detailed in-game info for PC gamers. If you are not using either of those features then disabling it is fine. Pre-emtive is probably a better algorithm for gaming although I use reactive and have no problems. If you use pre-emptive though you will never get more than 60Mbps though
PuppetMaster
Hi tjl118, welcome to the forum Can you follow this guide - it should get you the speeds you pay for Let us know if that works! I've done everything here & myself & i'm still getting 90mb when I should be getting 150. the only thing I haven't check is my ethernet cord. So to confirm, you've disabled IPv6 in the three places, you are on the reactive algorithm, congestion control is on 100% and you've got the correct speeds entered in congestion control? Can you also check that you get the speeds that you are expecting when connected to the router that the Netduma is connected to please.

tjl118
Nvm I found where I need to do it. I will take all those steps and report back. Other question. How does the packet processing work? Is it automatic all the time or are there ways to improve it?

I added my speed test above. another speed test speedtest.net = http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/4448151238 they are quite similar. dont really know where to go from here
Zennon
What speeds are you seeing at the moment? http://wiki.netduma.com/doku.php?id=why_is_my_speed_lower Tweak for different speeds http://wiki.netduma.com/doku.php?id=fine_tune_netduma&s[]=speed

How does the packet processing work? Is it automatic all the time or are there ways to improve it? Do you mean the deep packet processing? Because that is on all the time if you have it enabled in miscellaneous settings. Can you restart the Netduma and see if the speeds come back. Can you also make sure you have entered the correct speeds into your congestion control and that you are testing with 100%. Finally, can you go through this guide again and make sure you have don everything in there. You could also try testing with a different server on the speed test. tjl118
http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/4449478018 this is what i get right now with all those settings. dont really know what else it could be. double checked everything and chose a comcast server that was close. it resulted in the best ping. On a more important note. whenever i turn off the IPv6 settings my xbox one connection shuts down. don't know why that is either.
tjl118
another question. On drift0rs videos of the netduma...his router had different colors on the map to show servers and players. How is that enabled? also sometimes my router does not register everyone in the game and sometimes people not in their correct location. Why is that? Netduma Staff Netduma Crossy Posted June 22, 2015 Netduma Staff Share Posted June 22, 2015 another question. On drift0rs videos of the netduma...his router had different colors on the map to show servers and players. How is that enabled? also sometimes my router does not register everyone in the game and sometimes people not in their correct location. Why is that? Yeah, as Buck said he was running Admin mode which is no longer used. Also, the reason why the GeoFilter might not show everyone from the lobby is because some players may be from outside the GeoFilter as the GeoFilter only filters the host The reason they could show in the incorrect location in because the location of an IP can sometimes only be shown to their city, sometimes even more inaccurate so it could be 200km+ off. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted June 22, 2015 Administrators Share Posted June 22, 2015 Exactly what everyone has said. Back to the original issue, when you're doing this speed test, is it a wired speed test?
Administrators Netduma Iain Posted June 23, 2015 Administrators Share Posted June 23, 2015 Hi Tj, those speeds look low, as Fraser said please make sure you're doing the test on a PC/MAC and its wired. You should be able to get 120mbits at least.
