abc123
Is the included power supply, which is unusual for the RB951G normally it is 24V 0.8A. Where as the provided is 12V1A, anyways I am trying to get rid of the following issue (too tall when plugged in): So i'm thinking about replacing it with: http://www.amazon.com/Wall-Adapter-Power-Supply-12VDC/dp/B006GEPUYA As this is a 12V1A power supply, please let me know if this would work as according to the supplied power supply this should be a suitable replacement. Guest Netduma Fraser
In the future people will have a normal power supply. We just wanted to get people the units as quick as possible. We cant give advice on other power supplies im afraid.
abc123
"The voltage range for this device is 8-30V, so you can choose any adapter in this voltage range, anything above 0.8A should work fine."

Dillinger
Purely for science mine is in the mail, and won't be here until Wednesday. I'll be following this as well. I am no electrician nor have I ever played one on tv, but from my limited knowledge of working near the industry it appears that replacement should be just fine. I just don't want to be the first one to test it as I hold my [Duma] in too high of regard right now.

abc123
purely for educational purposes this adapter worked perfectly. Router is running fine at normal temp for ~5 hours at load. Very educational.

Very educational. Thanks for testing that out. I think I'll pick one up soon, the height of the plug with the adapter is awkward, I'm afraid it will get knocked loose in an inopportune moment of frantic button mashing. abc123
Definitely, the original was very awkward. Just remember that when handling electronics, different power supplies may cause damage to your device. Although, my scientific expedition was successful...and documented here. I offer no guarantee, or support for this...nor i'm sure does netduma. That being said, mines working great still. perfect fit (including router side insert plug). Be aware that the cable on this was only like 3ft, which is perfect for me, but your mileage may vary.

decimalator
I was actually happy to see the big power adapter to the power adapter, it made it high enough that I could plug it in on the same surger protector I had in my office with just one little open space above a big plug and I didn't have to shuffle stuff around. So, yay for awkwardly shaped power adapters.

II Z IE IR O II
Just an FYI.....There's a new type of adaptor that is shipping with the R1. I didn't compare height next to the original adaptor but all I know that its different. It looks to be shorter though

Guest Netduma Luke
@ The duma crew are you guys shipping a new power supply with the dumas to the US yet.And if so how would i go about purchasing one ? We're looking into bulk ordering and we have a sample on its way to us to test. If it works, we will order a large batch in but I think this whole process will take a while though (talking months not weeks). I would love to say I recommend you buy this adapter from X or from Y but as I won't have tested them, I can't give that advice.
fuzzy clam
@ Luke i completely understand,so many legal loopholes and things like that. And i know testing something new takes time, thanks for the reply.
abc123
Hints why this is purely for educational purposes the test showed nothing invalid in the multimeter testing, also has been running with this power supply since it arrived Friday, January 2, 2015 by 8pm. Unplugging and plugging it back it also causes no power surges what-so-ever. But I cannot tell you that this power supply is 100% going to work for you, and netduma isn't going to either as they haven't tested it either. There is no guarantee that you won't get a faulty power supply and thereby be stuck with a fried netduma. So this is a use at your own risk. fuzzy clam
I'm gonna take a chance and roll with that other power cord. And as always i know your advice is for entertainment and educational purposes only. And abc LLC can in no way be held responsible for results different from his own and these results are not typical,so use at your own risk. There i feel i have covered you coming from a legal stand point Still gonna order the plug thou
