Tai N
Hey guys, I've been monitoring my ping for a while and have been trying new things with the share excess. Just to keep it short, I wanted to know if these results are okay for gaming. When gaming is it normal for the ping graph to go close to the yellow every so and so shown in the picture, or should it look different while gaming? I'm just curious, if there's a problem I'd like to see if I can fix it, but if it's normal all is well. Thanks for reading. Zennon
Twitters server is based a bit away from you as I can tell by your ISP hops being 26ms before it hops to Twitter at 50ms. So your base ping is nearer to 26ms, if you ping a closer server to yourself you would get better results. The plots look fine you have the odd spike but it is nothing to worry about really. I do not use any bandwidth allocation and use share excess with 70% congestion control as this works best for me, you will only see the benefits if you test while downloading and saturating your line as that is what congestion control is a control for local congestion

RL317
Is Charter a DSL, cable or fiber provider? Looks pretty stable for the most part. There are so many factors that could cause the occasional spike like that Twitter's a weird one for me. Twitter.co.uk gives me triple digit latency while twitter.com is 7ms. I tend to stick with 8.8.8.8 or the IP of my local CoD server as that's gonna match what I'm getting while gaming. Anyway is doesn't seem like gaming does anything particularly bad to your line performance so you can keep playing without worrying you need to do anything

How do you find the ip of your local CoD server or nearest server in general?
RL317
Cable, I used twitter since it was on the pingplotter guide. How do you find the ip of your local CoD server or nearest server in general?Well when that's very good for cable. Idk how the typical cable line is in the US but mine was absolutely dreadful, and the modem had issues too. I could ping the modem alone and get spikes up to 130ms and packet loss. It should always be 1ms at most lol Do you know how to use Wireshark? It's an awkward process as you'd have to bridge your router connection to the console through a PC. If you play on Steam it should be a piece of cake as you can just run the app while playing. I can't even remember how I connected everything, but I know something had to use WiFi lol Or if you have a device that logs traffic you might find traffic going through UDP 3074 to an IP beginning with 45.63 if you're playing CoD. Idk about WW2 servers though; I did this when I was playing IW so they might have entirely different numbers by now.
