Netduma R1 not working correctly

Recommended Posts

Hi

I'm having an issue with my location on the Geo filter, i am presently having a dip in the middle of the ocean!!!

I'm using a sky Q router and i have done all Raddy's tips and fixed the IP address and put in DMZ and selected DSL, I'm playing on PS4 generally of COD.

if there something i have missed or need to do?

I was also having trouble with NAT and joining friends last night, saying cant join due to NAT. i have port forwarded on net duma the PS4 ports

I've only had it a day so i'm pretty fresh to this

I also get a message in device manager saying you need to enable DMZ but I have

any help will be greatly appreciated

Thanks

did you disable upnp on the duma and the sky q box if you are using port forwarding? If not then that will be your issue. As for your location on the map move it to over the uk and reduce the radius to cover the uk and the tip of france when that is done reboot the R1.

your ping ass ist is set too high, reduce it to about 30

click on the little house icon and click the uk and it will move your position there or whever you want it to be.

Hi Bazza, welcome to the forum!

Not to worry - the suggestion above is correct. If you click on the Home icon you can place your home location anywhere you wish. We usually recommend placing it where you live, though you can also place it in other places if there are certain servers you want to connect to etc.

As for your NAT, could you check your NAT type on the console and in-game? I would recommend enabling UPnP on the Duma and disabling Port Forwarding. Also ensure UPnP and Port Forwarding are disabled on your Sky Q.

The home location goes wherever you want it (using the button with the little house icon) but there's nothing wrong with having it in the ocean; in fact I'd argue that's best as you'll be find games under your ping assist cap, rather than risking finding local hosts with shitternet ;)

If you've already put your R1 in the Sky Hub DMZ I think you'll still need to enable UPnP on the R1. I'm with BT - basically the same setup as Sky - and I need to use UPnP if I use a modem only or a BT Hub with the R1 in its DMZ.

The DMZ warning is just there to ensure you alleviate any potential problems arising from double NAT (having two routers in one setup). As long as your R1 is in the Hub's DMZ, UPnP is enabled on the R1 and you get open/type 2 NAT on the console test and open NAT in whatever game you're playing, you're set

Cheers Gents

Chat sorted, and sorted my home location. Cant believe I believe i didn't sort that, taxi for me!!!

I have also deleted the port forwarding as well

i'm still getting red dots for people that i'm playing with, do i need to up my threshold on the Host filter?

Sorry new to this!!!

Ah that's good to hear! So those red dots you see are other players (and can be your friends as well). You can't block players from joining your game - the Geo-Filter is designed to get you the closest / best ping host possible.

You can tell which one is the host of the game since it'll be the largest circle on the map. I'd recommend starting out with maybe 1500km distance, 0ms Ping Assist and Strict Mode turned on.

Strict Mode means you won't be able to connect to dedicated servers (game servers) outside your radius. If it's turned off, you will be able to connect to them (but peer-to-peer connections will be blocked like normal). We recommend keeping it turned on unless you're getting booted from the game.

Please let us know if you have any more questions :D

Yeah those dots are normal if you have your home location on land (ie the UK); it just shows players that are in your lobbies and the server or host you're connecting to (server or host - bigger circle). If all dots are big or pulsing, you're the host of a game rather than being connected to a server.

If you place your home location in the ocean and shrink the radius down in order to matchmake using ping assist only (this is what the CoD Ultimate profile does by the way), and you use strict mode, you should only see yellow exclamation marks to indicate other players, unless they fall under your ping assist cap. In that case they'll look like little nuke symbols as shown by the legend. Anyone else outside of your range or ping assist value will be an exclamation mark.

If you don't use strict mode with the ping assist only method, servers will be shown as regular dots but other players will either be ping assist symbols or exclamation marks :) strict mode still filters players and potential hosts to the max, but servers outside of your radius or ping assist value can be allowed. This is useful if you want to reduce the chance of a bad local host, but you know that a server just outside will be just fine for whatever you're playing. With other players you have to think about jitter/packet loss and the fact that their home network setup may be poorly optimised, whereas connections to servers are usually far stronger.

In recent CoD games prelobby hosts are chosen before the game is transferred to a server. A tight radius or low ping assist value (like 35ms or under) will improve your chance of finding a solid host, and strict mode OFF in that case will prevent you being booted because that low ping host is connecting and transferring the lobby to a server outside of YOUR limits. Hope that makes sense ;)

Indeed. Without my Netduma, I wouldn't be almost 2.7k/d player now.
