TEH BUTCHER
Even with the XR500 announcement I think since I already have an R1 and the R1 will get new features sooner that my best course of action would be purchasing an AP to handle the WIFI in my home partnered with the R1. I'm looking for hardware suggestions on what AP to purchase and also help with how to make it play with the R1. Any suggestions/help would be appreciated. Also generally speaking I've heard an good AP paired with the net Duma is a great combo to take care of the Wifi inefficiencies of the R1. That is a correct statement? Also I'm assuming an AP would be able to use 5ghz etc right? Thanks,
Bdotson5
I would just purchase the XR500 and sell the R1 on eBay

Just had a quick question for ya since your a very knowlegeable fella. I'm thinking about upgrading my isp's modem. I currently have 100 down 10 up with charter and my modem is a Cisco DPC 3216. Which one of these would you buy or wouldn't you https://www.buyacablemodem.com/charter.php. Those are the charter approved modems. I need something that won't be to difficult to set up. Was hoping a better modem would drop my ping a bit. Thaks!

I was looking at them yesterday but I'm not sure what to look for. That one you recommended is only an 8x4 for the channels. Here's the actual list from spectrum. It says recommended https://www.spectrum.net/support/internet/compliant-modems-charter-network/

Nice and $ savings from the isp too with their shitty modem. I'm in on that!!

It's sometimes on sale for $30 but yeah it's worth it over any ISP modem Also don't hi-jack other people's threads like this lol
TEH BUTCHER
Also don't hi-jack other people's threads like this lol So I did just remember I have a DIR-655 stashed away that I could try to use as an AP wonder if the wireless on that would be better than the R1. Thoughts?

I have Spectrum also and the same package as you and would just like to add to what MoD said...There is not doubt that the TC-7610 will improve the stability on your line as Spectrum is way oversold and has severe node overload. And I know first hand from lots of testing of my own line, this is in my experience and your milage may vary. You my be in an area where you don't have instability and jitter but most do as it's still cable internet. But the modem did help considerably with spikes and jitters again from my experience it works really well with helping achieve the most stable home network you can get. Thoughts? There are lots of routers that would work for what your trying to do.I run a Netgear in AP mode along with my R1 so I get the benefits of 5G in a pretty large home. Are you in the UK ? I thought that you were, so I'm not exactly sure what specific router for you to look into but I'm sure some from the UK could recommend something as I'm not sure if the set up would be different from UK to the US. I'm in the US, I have a FTTP connection that's 200/30, I guess I'll try the 655 to see if it helps. When using an AP you would disable wireless on the R1 right?
