Zepsblackdog
Hey all.. For the past several years i've only played on/did my job on..TN panel monitors. They included the Viewsonic 120hz monitor, and the ASUS VG248. Both are TN panels and both are pretty fast when it comes to playing twitch shooters. The bad side is I design vinyl graphics on cadlink/signlab pro on my monitor as well. After seeing a fellow graphics guy's IPS panel monitor I was blown away! The colors, the resolution, the accuracy all made me order a new one last night! Now, I realize his monitor was 2K res, and I'm on 1920x1080, but wow what a viewing difference. I ordered the ACER XB271HU monitor. I'm moving to 2560x1440 from 1920x1080. AND..from a 24" to a 27". ALSO from TN to IPS. Does anyone own this or another IPS monitor? WIll I still have a good gaming experience as far as lag is concerned. I'm aware there is a 3ms difference in panel refresh, but I'm hoping that's not too bad when it comes to FPS games.. I use an ASUS STRIX GTX 980TI for my graphics solution..an I7 4790K at 4.6G plenty of CRUCIAL ram and ssds.. So the system itself is pretty decent.. Any input would be greatly appreciated!! BIG__DOG
i use a benq monitor that has set presets and adjustable settings for a lot of game modes including fps! Benq monitors are also what are used in the major gaming tournaments!
Zepsblackdog
There are lots of good gaming monitors out there..I guess I was more curious about the gameplay of IPS monitors specifically as compared to TN panels.. As I have NO experience with IPS.
PharmDawgg
There are lots of good gaming monitors out there..I guess I was more curious about the gameplay of IPS monitors specifically as compared to TN panels.. As I have NO experience with IPS. Please research it yourself but I believe the monitor you are purchasing will do perfectly fine. I assume you are pc gaming and not console gaming because you will not get the full performance out of it with a console. I have not purchased one myself but I have read reviews on it and the only issue that I see with IPS vs TN is bleeding around the edges. But honestly I believe IPS monitors are graphically superior to TN monitors. On the flip side thought TN monitors are better or equal to IPS performance wise. May be someone on the forum has actually purchased one and can respond. Sorry for the rambling.
Zepsblackdog
Yup. Just PC, Don't even own a console. The vivid colors and consistency really pushed me over the edge when I saw my friend's IPS monitor. Too bad he didn't game..

Zepsblackdog
Pulled the trigger on the ACER Predator XB271HU 1440P IPS. Really loving this thing. I don't see or feel the 4ms delay compared to my last 2ms. The IPS is simply color perfection. That combined with Gsync on a GTX980TI is awesome. The greatest thing though is not having to use any AA. I turned Off FXAA and MSAA . The higher resolution makes playing without these things more tolerable than my last 1920 monitor. Sure, there is some saw toothing going on, but not noticeable in fast gameplay..

Good decision you will never go back toTN the colours of ips are such a big step up i've been using the asus swift pg279q for the past few months and it's blistering fast 4ms responce and 3.2 ms of total input lag, quake champions at 165 fps is just crazy fast with the speed characters. The Asus and your selection of monitor is what i nailed it down to went for the asus very happy considering the price will be interesting to see picture quality compared to TN when i eventually hook it up to my ps4. tammyal050
Hello, I used BenQ gaming monitor but I felt disappointed to this device. I had brightness and screening problem then I bought Acer Predator XB321HK gaming monitor. I'm very happy to using this. It has IPS technology, NVIDIA G-Sync Technology, and many features. I think, you also try this to get 144Hz monitor experience.
Zepsblackdog
I certainly can't go back to a TN panel now...
Gamingbattle
Hello all! I used Asus MG28UQ 4k gaming monitor but I felt disappointing with this. After that I bought Acer Predator XB321HK for playing my favorite games. Now I'm very happy with this monitor. It is the best gaming monitor which I ever used. I think you should also try this at once.
