Royal Mail Tracking

Hey All,

 

I'm trying to understand Royal Mail's tracking to try and determine where my router is/might be.

 

I'm in Canada and my package shipped on May 15th. There were a few notes under the "Full Tracking Details" indicating that the package was moved to the Heathrow distribution centre; so far, so good.

 

However, it's been sitting there for 5 business days now. I get that being in NA it's going to take a bit longer (7-8 days BD by their policy), but it seems like it hasn't moved since the first day? And there's also a sort of weird tracking message:

 

RECEIVEDUNKNOWN BAG - MISSING DUN

 

Seems a bit dicey, I don't know, probably normal but I'm just paranoid.

 

Canada Post also has no record of the tracking number.

 

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Received Unknown Bag – Missing DUN     An internal message for Royal Mail that the label from the mail bag your item is travelling in has come away and we’ve replaced it. Don’t worry, this doesn’t impact your item.

Sn0h0ar - it's annoying when this happens as it means your tracking id has now changed so you will be a bit blind as to where the router currently is. However, the good news is that it will be on its way over to you so the delivery time is unchanged.

 

To Canada it usually takes 7-8 working days so I think it will arrive at some point between Saturday - Wednesday.

 

This hasn't happened here but if for some reason it became completely lost, we would put in an insurance claim to Royal Mail and ship you a new one.

Thanks both! Is there any way to get the new tracking ID, or is it just a waiting game?

 

It's just a waiting game unfortunately - painful but at least we know it's on its way. Sometimes it can update when it lands in Canada, so look out for that on the Canada Post site.

Sorry about that Sn0H0ar if its any conciliation many people here had to go through it as well. We are looking into adding faster delivery method but it will cost a bit more & its too late for you :(

Haha nah, no worries at all. This is like Christmas for me; I haven't been this excited about something in the mail since I was a little kid. I just have to remember that I'm an adult, and *should* be able to act like one :)

 

Edit: Also, it just seems weird to me that they would change the tracking number and not replace it with something else. I guess I'm just getting too spoiled in this day and age!

When this happened before I think the tracking showed up again once it had made it through customs. Not sure if it will this time though. I definitely agree it's weird.

It seems you're right Luke, it just made it's way to Canada, and Canada Post kept the same Tracking Number. Now I just wait for the inevitable, terribly long customs holdover! :)

 

I'll update this for my fellow Canucks, and the historical record, as I've seen a lot of confusion/differing timelines for Canadian delivery on these boards.

 

1) Shipped May 15 from the UK

2) Tracking Number stayed at Heathrow DC

3) Arrived in Canada and went immediately to Customs on May 22 (5 Business Days)

4) It took a few days after Canada Post updated - not sure exactly when, but Royal Mail eventually undated their tracking, which now indicates delivery was successful to Toronto

5) Cleared Customs on the evening of May 27 (3 BD)

6) On June 1 (3 BD) Canada Post "Attempted Delivery" and left a "Notice of where to pick the package up" - they didn't, I was home all day. I called and they advised that due to customs charges ($44) they couldn't hand deliver it (the truck drivers can't accept money). So, instead they will send the ticket by mailman tomorrow, with the details on pick-up. Seems a ridiculous solution, when they could have just left it at the post office yesterday, but I digress.

6) Was able to pick it up and pay customs on June 2nd (1 BD).

 

Total time from confirm of shipping to pick-up = 12 business days

Hi!

 

Today I ordered a Netduma and I joined this forum. I have seen that my ISP is blocking your mails because I didnt get your emails and I looked into my junkmail folder also. I switched to my second email adress to be able to confirm the email for the forum that I can post and write something and that worked.

 

My question is: Can I get my tracking number email to my other email adress because the first one wont show anything related to your emails? 

 

And how do I change that? Because I ordered it with my first email adress which doesnt work.

Well sadly i get this message myself, my question is if they have replaced the label with all my info on it: Ex: Street Adress, Phone number, name etc. Especially phone number, did they replaced it with the full data or not because if they did not put the phone number in i wont be able to receive my package because i dont have the full adress on it, i was expecting the courier to call me and set a meeting where to pick it it up, like i always do. I guess there is a change i will not receive my package.....?

Hi ednet - I don't know that this is a problem that NetDuma would be able to assist with, as it seems it is tailored more for the mail carrier that replaced it.  I would suspect that if they had the tag, they should have a policy around copying over all relevant information.  If you didn't have a full delivery address, I would guess that your phone number would be important to move the package along, but we honestly have no way of knowing....

Well thank you Sir, i will let you know, if my package is not arriving before the end of the next week then it means i will never get it, hopefully i can get a refund or a resend.....

Please keep us informed!  The guys at NetDuma have been great at working with everyone to get them their router, correct and in a timely fashion.

Hey ednet, I've seen this on quite a few Royal Mail packages, it has never been an issue so far so don't worry! I'm sure they would have copied over the entirety of the information so they can get it to you. If you don't receive it by the time you expect post back here and we can look into it for you :)
