Mr fncypants
I really really need someone's help. I have optimum online internet from Cablevision. I'm having I guess you would say latency problems. When I play a game of MWR I connect to a New Jersey dedi server. My ping graph always looks like a roller coaster. Like ping ranges from 20ms up to 80. So I run a test from dsl reports. If I disconnect my Duma and hard wire into the laptop to the modem I get F buffer bloat. 2200 ms delay on download and typically 850ms on upload. Only time I can get an A on buffer bloat is if I throttle my internet down. My speeds are 60 up and 28 down. Typical 11 ms ping When I ping google it sends 4 packets and only returns 3. Sometimes The internet company swares they fixed it. Clearly it's not. If I create a hotspot of my Verizon phone I play way better. Please help. So I pinged google 50 times With internet throttling zero packet loss Without internet throttling sent 50 received 42 16% packet loss !!!!!! Now I'm doing 100 Sent 100 received 82 18% packet loss Someone? I have a dedicated modem for gaming

Netduma Staff Netduma Jack Posted January 20, 2017 Netduma Staff Share Posted January 20, 2017 Try doing a pingplotter test over different times of the day (at least 2 hours at a time on Twitter.com with nothing else downloading) and collect those results as evidence. That evidence can be given to your internet service provider.
Mr fncypants
How is that done? Also when I run dsl reports I shouldn't be getting F scores either correct? When my laptop is connected directly to my modem? These idiots are coming to my house today. They swear my internet is fine and fixed.

When my laptop is connected directly to my modem? These idiots are coming to my house today. They swear my internet is fine and fixed. It doesn't sound fixed in the slightest; if you download pingplotter (It's free) you can set it up - you essentially choose the target (which would be Twitter.com, we recommend this because it constantly updates, giving you a steady influx of data) and you just set a time for it to ping twitter over. When it's finished running just take a screenshot of that - it'll provide pretty good evidence that there's something wrong since it's indisputable data. You shouldn't be getting F scores etc if your line is working correctly, though unfortunately there's nothing another router like our R1 can do to fix a broken line. Mr fncypants
Understand. How come when I throttle down my internet I can get good scores on dsl reports?

Mr fncypants
Cable company was here today. Ran several ping tests to twitter and google. Tons of packet loss. Problem is outside of my home.
bagsta69
Also you need to remember that DSL reports runs standard tests. I always get an F for speed but really do not worry about that portion of the test. If you are gettign wildly crap results you can adjust the settings on dsl reports to run as many streams as you want. I had this issue the other day. Running 32 streams which appears to be standardish, I was getting awful results. I dropped thet to 3, then 6 then 12 then 24 and A+ across the board at 80% congestion control. Do a bit more reading into how dsl rports works before jumping to conclusions on its results is what I am trying to say I guess. Pingplotter is a great tool to test your ISP as has already been mentioned.
Mr fncypants
What I don't understand is if I run from the modem to laptop and run 1 dsl test I get F for buffer bloat Then throttle my internet down I get all A+ smh!!!! Either way my ping graph in game looks like a roller coaster
ColonicBoom
How come when I throttle down my internet I can get good scores on dsl reports? That's the point of the Anti-Flood sliders in Congestion Control. When you use it, it minimises the bufferbloat, your scores will go from cack (F rating) to not cack (A rating). If your ping is all over the place then you need test with Ping Plotter direct from your modem and post up the pic so we can see but... As there's lots of packet loss, that the engineers are looking into it outside of your home, then there's obviously an issue that they are aware of. So you may as well wait for the engineers to deal with that first because no amount of changes to settings will resolve a line fault.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 21, 2017 Administrators Share Posted January 21, 2017 Did they say they would be able to resolve the issue outside your home?

Mr fncypants
Maybe my gaming is connected to googles dns server that's why I'm having problems?
Mr fncypants
So I did a DNS benchmark test. Found my best dns servers. Changed them in my Duma. My in game ping graph is smoother. Mr fncypants
When I run internet diagnostics, I noticed it connects to google. 8.8.8.8 Can I change that? To like twitter? Anytime I run cmd off my laptop I get packet loss. Thanks for all your help
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 22, 2017 Administrators Share Posted January 22, 2017 You can't change it currently but we should allow different server options or choosing your own in DumaOS.
