Dillinger
I don't know about the rest of you, but when I first saw the story about how this router would help control the lobbies you joined for online gaming, I HAD to have one. It wasn't really an option at the point that there was something out there that would, seemingly, allow me to play on a more even playing field. I mean the speed of light is cool an all, until you pick up the sticks on a twitch shooter like Call of Duty or Battlefield. I had tried all the port forwarding videos, the XBLive internet connection mapping videos, I had good internet, the Scuf controllers, the sight lines, the spawns, and I had already bought a "gaming" monitor. I was INVESTED and damn it I wanted to have good games for my cash outlay and all the time I spent trying to "get gud kid". Enter the [DUMA] Fast forward about 6 months. I have been gaming regularly with great results. A few hiccups here and there, but my whole gaming experience has been upgraded to a great level between the Congestion Control and the Geo Filter. Life is good..... Except for the people that haven't joined our Enlightened circle yet and are still getting matched in my lobbies. We are about to drop in on a new map, take a look through the connections and see 5 guys with 4 green bars on my team, with 4 guys all green on the other squad, and then I see those two damn split-screeners running a 2 bar of death! I just KNOW one of these two is going to absolutely crap all over my gun-kill streak with some bullshit. It's a given, right? If it's not them, then I get the one guy who is a good enough player to know the whole map, but still runs a shotgun and Lightweight, so he can skip around the map like the Easter Bunny, blipping in and out as my bullets pass completely through him without effect. I find myself bitching "Why don't you just get a [DUMA] and play closer to your home, you streak killing f*ckwit!?!?" The words hanging in the air around my living room like a haunting specter And then I realize. I have become a Duma-dickhead. I expect everyone to want to embrace playing on nice, low-ping connections and to strive for straight-up, head to head game plays where the person's skill and knowledge win out over lightning-fast reflexes of youth and broken game mechanics. I'm not sure if I am alone in this newly diagnosed condition. Am I alone? Or are others of you out there also saying similar things and wishing bad things on people who haven't embraced this wonderful new version of online gaming? So, before I start a club (that will meet during non-core gaming hours & where we tell our painful stories of having that high scorestreak robbed from us in a safe place) I thought I would see if there are any others out there..... Anyone?? http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lfgs5qYWbW1qgxm4ao1_500.gif
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted May 11, 2015 Administrators Share Posted May 11, 2015 Great post, its always awesome to read these I've found myself doing it regularly, normally just saying it quietly and chuckling to myself whilst looking at my 10ms ping
Akic
I can't say I'm in that mindset yet. I'm just happy to be able to play AW. I could barely string a killstreak together before the R1 and was thinking of abandoning COD till BOPS3 came out, now I'm just .01 off my beloved 2.0 KDR which I have never been below on any COD. It's been a long haul as I was barely over a 1 before I got the R1 so I'm just happy I'm getting into fair gunfights, not always but the gameplay's so much better that I don't even care about the odd lagger here and there. ltr7
And with peer ping now you can see that one guy in every lobby, usually in south america somewhere with 800ms ping because he's using a recycled toaster oven for a router on his 48k connection
Administrators Netduma Iain Posted May 12, 2015 Administrators Share Posted May 12, 2015 lmao you guys are hilarious. In Halo 3, which the Geo-Filter was tested on having low ping is a huge advantage and being host is also massive advantage. At first I'd laugh at the poor souls in US, I'd say to Luke you're gonna hear some whining this game if those circles are on our team. And on que, 20s later... "OMG this foreign hosts suck" LMAO
Codester
Not really on the players but it has changed my view on games and the developers. A device like netduma can show you how bad the SBMM (AW) is and how it will connect you to people overseas for the sole reason of pairing you with players of your skill. Players will usually be the same with or without a netduma.
fuzzy clam
I would have to say yes but only how ignorant people can be.I was playing the other night and 3 guys in a clan that were on my team kept bitching about "how the host has got to be in mexico cuz his connection sucks" i told them were playing on a dedicated server in Illinois.and i i heard was your full of shit, how the hell would you know where the host is.I explained my "special tools" i have for knowing where the host is to which they cried bullshit they don't have dedi's on this game. So yeah it did but for different reasons than most

fuzzy clam
LOL yeah after 4 games in a row of those same 3 clan members being on my team and listening to their BS,i'm sure they would have rather had me calling them" special tools " as opposed to what i was calling them
Dillinger
LOL - I want to start a thread now of "Angry Messages from XBox Live". I got one last night that was absolutely priceless and LIKE AN IDIOT, I deleted it instead of keeping it. Me in three lobbies with some kids from Northern Mexico and SoCal. They were running LMG's and they seemed to like to take over a small room and cover each entry. Typical pack camping. I tried my fast ladder class, as they were camping on the only roofs in Blops 2 on Plaza. Got absolutely shredded by the second and third guy IF I was lucky enough to kill the first one. No avail. Only scorestreak I had cue'd up that had much hope was the sentry gun, but they still ended up winning. Third map we dropped in on Raid, one of the best maps in Blops 2, and they went right up to the apartment overlooking the pool. Out came the C4+EMP and scavenger class, with that stupid 4-rotor remote control aircraft, with UAV and CAUV. It was a [DUMA] destruction and the message I got afterwards was something to the effect of: "fuk u! kys! u thro c4 like bitch anand will kill you rt" <= The "anand" and "thro" were verbatim Now I assume they did not like the C4, wanted me to self-fornicate &/or kill myself, and they will kill me should be meet in a real time encounter. I couldn't even be mad. Normally I would have something smart to say back, but all I could do was record myself laughing and send it back to him. Sometimes its just REALLY satisfying to wreck someone's day.

Administrators Netduma Iain Posted May 16, 2015 Administrators Share Posted May 16, 2015 hahaha you guys are hilarious. I think Jeff once said something along the lines of "A day where I get rage messages is a succesful day" lmao. I think a hate mail thread would be brilliant!
