Advice for two consoles on one NetDuma Router

Recommended Posts

Hi community. Just a quick which might be fairly simple but before I purchase I would like to know the following. Any advice would be great. I share a house with my brother and we both are avid gamers on XBox. We play Forza Motorsport 6, destiny and Battlefield amongst others. With one NetDuma Router will it only affect one console or will I/we have to buy one per console to get the best out of the router?? We stream via twitch fairly often and have experienced MAAAD Lag when doing it off a traditional service. Again any help would be appreciated. Cheers

Hi, welcome to the forum! You certainly won't have to buy more than one Netduma; you can use features such as congestion control to get the best connection across all your devices. Likewise, the Geofilter feature can be used to customise the connection of your devices separately. The Netduma has a Destiny profile, which we would recommend when playing that game. Battlefield however is not officially supported, but is undergoing testing presently.

If you've got any questions about the router and its features, feel free to ask away; more information can also be found in our wiki. Thanks :)

There is a little bit of fussing, noting dramatic.  Read this post for info;   http://forum.netduma.com/topic/8866-black-ops-3-nat/?p=65325.  This specific post is talking about having open NAT which is a big concern of users while 2 consoles are on at the same time.

I'm not sure what will happen if you're both streaming to Twitch.  How much bandwidth are you getting from your ISP?  That lag you were getting could be because you didn't have enough bandwidth from your ISP for all the data you were uploading while you both streamed.  In any case, if you're both playing and streaming you'll want a Netduma to help sort out the congestion issues from your home network.  Good luck

Hey, welcome to the forum!

No need to buy more than one router. Congestion control will take effect across all devices and prevent you from impacting each other and eliminating lag. As Major said above though, you will need to have sufficient bandwidth if you're both streaming etc.

Thanks people! Hopefully just given you all a thumbs up .

Let's get an purchase this beast

Dude, once you get used to it you're never going to want to change.  One thing you should remember when you first get it...  It can take a little while to fully understand how to use it in different situations.  Like if you want to camp specific servers, or whether or not you even care about the map location of the servers and just want to find a low ping server. Saving and loading profiles etc etc. The congestion control and hyper traffic are the bomb though.  That's mostly all I use.  You and your bro may need to fiddle around with how much to move your CC sliders to when you both stream.  There are a bunch of really smart people on this forum who like to play games, so you'll find a lot of help.
