Your typical COD server's ping...

This is a 24 hour window of the ping to your typical cod server. This server is located within 100 miles of me and I ping about 12-15 ms to it when it's acting normally. My connection was completely idle at the time, no other factors were effecting the ping on my end.

As you can see, in the day-time the ping shoots up to 40+ ms and then as the night goes on (and I assume less and less people are playing) the pings go down because of less congestion and less sever load from GAMESERVERS.COM or CHOOPA the two hosting companies that I found running cod servers.

(This is what a weekend cod server looks like lol)

As a comparison, this is my ping to 8.8.8.8 the google dns server.

(the packet loss here is because I rebooted my router and forgot pingplotter was going)

That is your ISP jitter calming down as the neighborhood goes to sleep.

No it's not, my ping graphs that I've been running 24/7 for almost a year now do not move this much during the day.

I have a lovely flat line to my server as I have no jitter we all experience different things thats fine :)

Are you pinging a cod server? You're in the UK, could be a completely different company hosting there... Every day I can set my ping assist to 30ms and never connect to a game. Once it gets late enough I can connect to games within 15ms. Yet I can consistently ping a website at 10ms no matter what time of the day which rules our ISP congestion. Look up reviews for gameservers.com and you'll see how bad they really are.

Just for proof I'll run a smokeping to the server:
