fuzzy clam
...got an issue,I have a device that I absolutely can't get rid of on my duma. And yes I have followed all the usual way to delete devices, which I have done many times and helped people do many times. But DAMN this thing is driving me crazy. I'm guessing the issue is because I had this device on my other router and ISP,and I have used it wired and wireless that it just won't go away.I follow the steps...try to delete device > reboot router>then go to device manager and delete device and it's gone. But here's the problem when I reboot the router it defaults back to the Charter router not the duma and that is set up for the rest of the house for the speeds. The only thing I have on AT&T / duma is my laptop and my PS4 both hardwired, although I do use my laptop wirelessly when I'm not gaming. So as soon as I switch back the WIFI to the duma and not Charter...boom the device shows back up. And the device is my laptop,I got an IP for wired and an IP for wireless and can't get rid of the wireless IP. Any ideas ?
Zennon
You need to turn off the auto connection to the dumas WiFi in the device, find the duma in the list and tell it to forget. If you can not work out how to forget then change the WiFi password to a new one never used before and only give that pass to devices you wish to be in the device list. fuzzy clam
Well there's only 2 in the device list,3 if you count the laptop twice.Which the duma does. Is this happening Z because I use my laptop both wired and wirelessly ? Or does that not have anything to do with it ?
Zennon
Ah ok yes that will show twice.
fuzzy clam
How would I go about turning the auto connection off on my laptop ?
Zennon
I have just googled it for IOS mac Quote: In System Preferences | Network Preferences, click the Advanced button. On the Airport tab (should already be selected) of the dialog that comes up, untick "Remember networks this computer has joined". In the "Preferred Networks:" box above it, select all of the known networks and delete them. You should have a naive WiFi after that.

ColonicBoom
I have a Macbook Fuzzy, let me know if you haven't got there and I'll check mine because I've had to do it before - they like to change things on Mac with each new OS

Found what I was looking for and deleted them... now we'll see if it works... Although coming from Yoda Z,I got no reason to believe it won't
ColonicBoom
That man does indeed know his stuff. I was just thinking that whenever I have a problem with Mac and Google it, the answers often relate to previous OS versions

major masingil
Why do you have to discriminate against the wireless IP? Embrace it, give it a cool name!
fuzzy clam
Why do you have to discriminate against the wireless IP? Embrace it, give it a cool name! Let me guess you view that as connection profiling and your against it... It shouldn't be an issue but I do have a touch of the OCD thing going. But it also takes up a third of my device prioritization flower, for no reason. And since I only have 2 things connected to that line...my PS4 and my laptop,I want to see only 2 devices on my device manager. But DAMN i may have to go with your idea and just give it a name ( was thinking about major masingil ) cuz I can't get rid of that f**king thing. I 'm just busting though. I totally get where you're coming from.
fuzzy clam
LMAO,yeah sometimes it's the little things that should be simple to fix end up being the biggest pain in the ass. Or I could be missing a simple step in the process and that's the way I'm leaning.
