Granted with the changes in how much and how fast data can be transmit and received via wireless, you aren't in any "danger" - but as pointed out above, a wired connection has little chance of being interrupted "on it's own". I have been upgrading the firmware for my R1 wirelessly every time since I bought it and I thought what if in one of those instances if it could get damage d or corrupted because I did it wireless instead of wired.
