The GIANT thread of GOOD!

Dillinger

Recommended Posts

It's that time of year again.  The pressure, the people, finding the right gift, the forced merriment at the office and with family you make a point of seeing only once a year.  You have a ton of year end deadlines going on personally or at your job, plus all this other pressure to be the perfect little consumption droid and "Enjoy the Holidays" with an open wallet.

And then you jump on your favorite game and shit doesn't go as expected.    :(

#sonofabitch!  Can a man catch a break???

So I got to thinking about the Great Forum thread that Dark Bawgs started and I decided we need to build on that and get a thread going of GOOD STUFF!

This thread is for the good things that are going on, the cool stuff you witness or are exposed to, or just something that made your day.

GOOD STUFF:

I'm currently sitting here enjoying some Diet Mt Dew, my morning BO3 beverage of choice, in my Anonymous mug provided by my Secret Santa (shout out to S.S. - Pro I).

Today is my Friday and I have the next 4 days off.  (2) of those days are family engagements, not my favorite, but on the backside of that I get (2) days to play some recently patched BO3.  Perhaps with some of my #DumaArmy friends?

I finished the year having changed from a job with an awful commute (1.5hrs each way), where I hated life and the people I was forced to work with, to one with a nicer paycheck and it's only 22 minutes from my house.  Cool.

I also became a member, and then a Mod, on this forum where I have met some really cool people.  All walks of life, all types of careers and life experiences, and I have learned SO MUCH.  Not just about gaming!  But about networking, lag comp, stereo/audio+headphones, controllers, monitors and tons of other things.

People here have such a diverse and well informed background that requests for information or opinions prior to a purchase are invaluable.  I have both made purchases based on recommendations, and have avoided others, from posts and links on this forum.

This is a thread about the GOOD STUFF, and I know you have some share.....

Stuffed with kebab, decided to pretty much retire this year so only working part time now in a job I love so not really work.

Bought a massive bag of guylian chocolates and took them for the barrista's at my local costa coffee shop.

Bought a big bunch of flowers for a work colleague and got a second one which I gave to the cashier along with a very American "have a nice day".

Christmas is all wrapped and delivered so I am just chilling and thinking how fortunate I am.

Merry Christmas y'all

Today was a good, no a great day, I finished the last couple of gifts, saw my grand daughter and had a nice lunch, Rebus went to the doggy spa so he looks good for tomorrows festivities (we celebrate Xmas Eve).  I am so looking forward to seeing my daughter, my grand son and my daughters mother (my first wife, and we are good friends).  I am really proud of my son as he is a Captain in a fire department out west and because he is single he always volunteers over Xmas so the married guys can be with family; pretty unselfish move!

Life is good and I am thankful that I am blessed with pretty good health, and an agile mind  (at least I think it is???).  I am also thankful that I found this forum and all you great folks.

Sometimes we forget, but for all those men and women in service of their country, thank you I am so grateful.  One of my heroes summed it up best:

“We sleep soundly in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm.”

I never regarded myself as a rough man :) but did my stint :)

Bit of a story but I was telling my family about my coworker and her son...they're having a really tough time and she couldn't afford anything this Xmas. We decided to be Secret Santas and make sure her son had a good Christmas, when my nephew said he wanted to help too.. He wanted to give him some of his presents...

That's real nice MissV, I try every day to make at least one person smile of proper belly laugh. It can be hard at times when the world is taking a dump on you but it is good for the soul and very theraputic.

Well I re broke my neck and have surgery January 4 and look forward to long painful rehab and getting back into the gym.Now I know that may not sound like a "good" thing but it is.Hopefully back to somewhat normal, well as normal as I can be.

So the rest of the good... first it's the holidays so we brew up some homemade shine (last batch was 180 proof according to the hydrometer) and we make one called apple pie with cinnamon sticks in the bottom of the mason jar and damn is that shit good.It can get you in trouble really fast,so that's always a big hit at the gatherings.

We also play Santa to my wife's sisters kids, and have for the past 5 years as she is a single mother of 4 kids and her ex husband doesn't pay support and one of her kids is special needs (my niece has downs) and anyone with a special needs child knows how expensive this can be.So we've been buying all the kids christmas presents to make sure they have happy memories of their childhood holidays.Which in turn always makes Mrs Fuzzy and myself feel good as we've been pretty fortunate in life and it is family after all.If anyone has ever been around someone with downs, the first thing you notice is that they are always smiling. My niece is 7 years old and I've never seen her in a bad mood, that shit makes me think when things go bad in your life...how bad is it really.

Also got to meet a shitload of people on this forum and learning a ton about everything from networking to new technology for gaming and my own network.Got a new gaming partner in JD,love that guy. We're a lot a like in hobbies and how we view life.Plus were both old as hell LOL.

And got to be part of a great community, this one.And got to know and associate with Iain,Luke,Fraser,Crossy and Zennon and the rest of the mods JD,Buck, abc, lukasz, chive and the rest of the forum members they are all great people, with each one bringing something different to the table.

Wish you guys a merry christmas and may everyone exceed their goals in 2016

Thanks Fuzzy, I'm also going to try work on being more selfless acts in 2016 in my local community.

I know the local church helps out refugees in Cali, I think I'll get involved and try do my part.

There is no real substitute for good people in and around you.

Life is short. Financial matters come and go. Health issues rise and get resolved.

But having good people in your life will serve you ten fold, my friends.
