Add “Halo Infinite” severs and geo filtering
K0NSPIRACY replied to Yale king's topic in New Games for the Geo-Filter
Ok thanks Liam. I’m still getting the issue so I’ll check this evening if the issue resolves itself as it did last time (it hasn’t been 24 hours yet). -

Could that simply because sometimes I have to connect via 4G rather than my R2 wifi? Presumably my public IP will change when I switch from BT broadband via R2 and 4G connection via Vodafone? Also I sometimes post/browse using my MacBook so I presume that also has a different public IP. For the record, I’ve never had any similar issues with any other websites…it’s just the Netduma website and forum. Would I be able to extend the public lease in my BT router settings or would I have to contact their next to useless broadband support team? Also does this public IP only apply to my iPhone or does it cover all my devices? -

Sounds like the servers have been up and down for the last few days but friends are online playing now ok. Should also be 1GB update to install today. -

Thanks for the info Zippy. What is VRR and how does it effect games? I'm using Xbox One X and have the game set to performance as I believe this is supposed to prioritise game performance over graphics? I'm also using a 1080p monitor so doubt I'm even getting 60fps (there's no way to tell how many frames we get on Xbox as far as I'm aware). -

Hi Fraser. It seems to have resolved itself now after about 24 hours. I haven’t changed anything my end. Strange. -

Yeah I found the option and the ping appears as a small number in the top right corner during the game. I’ve tested this afternoon and the figures displayed pretty much match what I’m seeing on the R2. If these ping values are correct then any issues in the game must simply be due to poor game coding, poor net coding, differences in frame rates and other players connections…examples being poor hit reg, inconsistent melee and melee lunge, shot around corners, etc; …all very symptomatic of latency. On a side note, is there any reason why I can’t access the Netduma website or forum on my iPhone when connected via my R2? It works perfectly fine if I turn off wifi and access via 4G so it’s obviously not a Safari issue, and it works perfectly fine on my MacBook. -

Hi Liam. Apparently there is a setting in the “UI” menu in Halo settings which I wasn’t aware of so I’ll check that out and monitor for a few days. I’ve checked on Halo Waypoint and it’s pretty clear that I’m not the only one with these kind of issues…but it could be something as simple as the servers or netcode being crap. I’ll post any information once I’ve done the ping tests/monitoring. -

I don’t know what options PC, XSS or XSX players have, but I’m playing on Xbox One X and there isn’t an option for Network Statistics in Halos settings menu (in or out of game). I’m totally reliant on the DumaOS to provide me with that information. -

@Netduma Liam Please find attached screenshots as requested. As you will see, this is a day time test taken at approx 3pm GMT and I'm still connecting to US servers in Chicago. The server ping shows 11ms which is clearly wrong, and the second image shows ping heatmap to that server to be 106ms. I've gone from going positive KD most games to barely being able to get a kill within the last 24 hours...the game is literally unplayable like this. Shoot first, die first in a fraction of the usual Halo TTK isn't fun or a fair game. Please also note that in the ping box on the Geo Filter screenshot that I am unable to access the options to name, block or deny the server (these screenshots were taken full screen on MacBook using Chrome). -

Hi Liam. I’ve recently updated so running the latest .394 firmware version, and followed all the installation guidance as per the thread on here. The US server shows as being allowed despite the fact that it should be blocked by Geo Filter. Strangely other US servers do flash up and they have the yellow triangle blocked icon. I’ll try to capture relevant screenshots for you. In the meantime, are there any settings that I could change to ensure the Geo Filter is enforced? I can’t work out now Halo Infinite servers are circumventing the Netduma Geo Filter. -

Isn't that how the Geo Filter is supposed to work?! If you have Geo Filter set to EU only and the game connects your lobby to US servers, and your friends aren't using a Geo Filter then they will obviously connect to the US server and you won't. -

I haven't had any issues with Geo Filter working with Halo Infinite until tonight. I have set the Geo Filter to UK only (Dublin) to avoid connecting to Amsterdam or US. Tonight the gameplay was horrific and could barely get any kills, so I checked DumaOS and low and behold...I'm connecting to US servers over and over again. This is one of them: Dedicated Server: trdonorthcentralusx1vmss.ipv6.microsoft.com.akadns.net I'm using Chrome for DumaOS admin and for whatever, in this latest update I can't even block these servers as the screen is offset to the right where you would usually name, block or deny servers. Why is this happening and how am I meant to block servers if I can't access the options? More importantly, why are Halo Infinite servers seemingly circumventing the Netduma Geo Filter? -
So is this for all platforms or just works on PC? I play on Xbox One X so would be useful to know if also works on console.

Would that cause UK WZ servers not to show up at all on DumasOS ping heatmap though? -

Have the UK Warzone servers been turned off? When I have just the geo filter covering the UK, I can’t find a game (usually after midnight) so have to expand the region, and the ping heat map is no longer showing UK servers since I first checked at approx 7pm. I’ve resynced the cloud but no change. Have Activision actually starting turning off UK servers? -

Yeah that’s what I figured. May be the player population is dropping off as they never used to offline the UK servers at all. -

I don’t play much at weekends but I can confirm that I’m unable to find games on UK servers after approx 2am GMT during the week. I usually have Geo Filter set to 200 miles just to cover the UK but I have to increase to 500 miles after 2am and it usually finds games on French servers. -

I don’t know if this is the right place to post it, but I couldn’t connect at all to UK servers after 2:30am last night searching for duos games. Geo Filter was set to 200 miles and had to increase to 500 miles where it found servers in France. -
You have similar speeds to myself. Are your speeds restricted in the QoS sliders or in bandwidth allocation? What other settings do you use and what platform do you play on?
-
How do you get on with your hit reg in Warzone? My understanding is still that if you have congestion control set to “never” then that effectively over rides the slider values. @Netduma Fraser could you confirm please?
-
That’s my take on it too. If “never” is selected then surely that means congestion control is effectively off.
-
No worries...I may have misinterpreted your reply slightly too! 😎 So basically ping is still more important than download/upload speed...however does that mean in your second example that player B could have an advantage over player A (due to lag compensation caused by ping rather than internet speeds) in a gunfight even if player A had a better experience interacting with in game items such as crates and doors?
-
If that was the case then wouldn’t we all have perfectly good in game connections and all be on the same playing field in terms of connection and performance, with no talk of lag, latency and lag compensation? If you continue further down that path then it mean that we wouldn’t be looking for solutions to our issues such as buying a Netduma router.
