Warzone 2.0 - Geo-Filter Not Working
K0NSPIRACY replied to TheSkyscraper's topic in Call of Duty Support
Thanks Fraser. I’ll give that a go in the week and confirm if worked. I play on XSX so presume I just keep the device as it currently is set up? -
Warzone 2.0 - Geo-Filter Not Working
K0NSPIRACY replied to TheSkyscraper's topic in Call of Duty Support
Quick question… I’m based in UK and tried to test US east coast servers by setting geo filter around servers in Florida and New York but was unable to join any games (it would search, state connecting then restart the search). I don’t use VPN, so what is the best way to force US east coast servers from UK? -
@Netduma Fraser Did a first play test yesterday using polygon geo filter to Spain and Italy, and didn’t have any issues at all with XBL chat or in game chat. I also didn’t have to add my friends to the allow list. I’ll keep play testing for a week, but it looks like updating to 3.3.280 and doing the cloud resync may have resolved this issue.
-
Just to clarify, my issue is that XBL party chat disconnects when polygon geo filter to Italy and Spain is enabled…it works fine if I have a 1000 mile radius from UK. I don’t actually know what testers cloud means but I was previously using an early access version (can’t version number). I upgraded to 3.3.280 last week so will update cloud and test again.
-
@Netduma Fraser I originally posted this over 2 months ago, so is anything likely to be done? Is anyone actually working on this? If not, what is the best way to get XBL party chat working and stable when using geo filter that only covers Italy and Spain from the UK and therefore excludes Ireland and Netherlands where the chat servers appear to be. Please note: drawing a polygon over those areas allows game servers which I’m trying to avoid.

Just a quick note… I don’t think UDP port 3075 needs to be forwarded for COD MW2/WZ2. It’s not listed on Microsoft website and is only listed on Activision website for previous titles. The game felt pretty smooth tonight and had no issues in game or chat, so is there any additional benefit to add UDP 3075 to port forwarding?
-
Thanks. I’ve done all that but struggling to see your ports on the image…I’ve just used the ports recommended on Activision and Microsoft websites. Are there any other ports that should be forwarded other than those? Whats your take on QoS? Leave at 100% or use sliders?

Has Alex or any one else had chance to look into this yet @Netduma Fraser?

Just upgraded R2 to 3.3.280 and currently setting up all my devices again. I see it’s been mentioned a few times that it’s best to disable UPnP. When I’ve done that in the past my Xbox has been unable to acquire a Teredo IP address which I believe is required for XBL chat. A couple of questions… 1. What settings/rules do I need to configure for Xbox Series X to function properly on XBL and CODMW2? 2. Will disabling UPnP impact any of my other devices? If so, is it just a simple case of assigning them static IPs in Network Settings > DHCP? Thanks in advance for any advice 😎👍 Edit: previously I’ve followed the advice from Netduma admins and set up my R2 and Xbox as follows: 1.Add R2 IP in to DMZ on BT Homehub. 2. Add Xbox IP in to DMZ on R2. If I don’t add Xbox in to DMZ on R2 and have UPnP disabled, then is it just port forwarding rules that I need to add? Please note: I have also assigned static IPs to all my devices (including Xbox) in to DHCP settings on R2. Edit2: forwarded recommended ports for Xbox/MW2 and connects fine with open NAT. Haven’t play tested MW2 or tested XBL chat yet.

Thanks for the info. Yeah I’ve seen quite a few negative comments so I’m just going to upgrade to the official latest version. My in game experience with R2 is pretty solid…just a shame that the in game servers are so bad, so as it stands it’s literally impossible to determine if any version of DumaOS is helping or not because the servers are so inconsistent game to game.
-
Obviously we use different setups and may be speaking at cross purposes…however I’ve never used a VPN but do use geo filter over EU every day. I’ve never been placed in a shadow banned server (as far as I’m aware) and have never been unable to find a game. The only times I can’t find games (or have to wait a long time) is if I disable crossplay and set geo filter to just allow Spain/Italy, and that is purely down to the population of Xbox only players with crossplay off being low in those countries.
-
If you have your geo filter set to a radius that excludes EU then how does the game force you on to EU servers? Isn’t that the point of using geo filter in the first place…or am I missing something?
-
Thanks @TODDzillaInLA. A lot of good tips and info. I’ll get the update done and take on board some of your points 😎👍

I’m based in the UK and usually have my geo filter covering just the whole of EU. From what I’ve read on here and experienced in game about ping is not king in this game, it feels better to be on Spain or Italy servers than UK…however I can’t get XBL party chat to work if I use polygon mode for just Spain and Italy (in game chat is very poor quality so would be grateful to anyone who can explain how to get XBL party chat stable and working with geo filter enabled to Spain/Italy). I’m not sure what the LCE is or what it does, but are you essentially saying that I’d be better off having geo filter set yo UK only for lower ping? Also, would I be better off restricting my upload and download speeds with the QoS sliders? The servers have been total dog shit lately in COD so it’s hard to determine what the best settings should be used in the R2 when the servers are so inconsistent and unstable. I’m also going to upgrade R2 firmware later today to the latest official version, as the comments about the early access version with SmartQoS don’t exactly fill me with much confidence that it would improve anything (yourself being one of the few exceptions)...however I’ll happily install the early access version instead if this is not correct and would actually make a difference in game.

Can you detail what settings you’re using now please? I believe we have similar setups (BT FTTP @ approx 150 down / 30 up) but I play on XSX. As a side note, if you’re not using the R2 with geo filter at the moment, could it be that you’re getting placed on servers much further away and benefitting from lag compensation. There’s actually no way of knowing via the latency meter in game what servers we’re connecting to whilst it’s broken with the 1ms being displayed every game.
-
Hi Fraser. BT finally managed to upgrade me to FTTP and everything is connected as before, however I’m also seeing approx 50% drop in speeds via the R2. BT Homehub: 148 down / 29 up R2: 76 down / 29 up I don’t have any settings active in QoS, so what could be causing this drop in speed via R2? Edit: disabled mirror wifi, renamed 2.4/5.0 and restarted R2 seems to have resolved the drop in speed issue.
-
Thanks Fraser. This will be an awesome feature if it can be added. 👍
-
Is this going to happen or should I just forget about it?
-
Any progress Fraser?

Any updates Fraser?

My broadband will be upgraded to BT FTTP within the next 2 weeks. I presume this will still be fully compatible with the R2, but will I need to make any configuration or settings changes on the R2? Also are there any known issues with the R2 and BT FTTP?

Any news Fraser?

These are the servers that I’ve allowed when they pop up in geo filter after creating XBL party chat: Amsterdam: d414c08bb173989d 7f14b883b11e989d 7f14b37eb11e989d Ireland: 3a14834eb1d9989d 381405d0b1d73e43 Didn't record location: e0148752b17f989d 2714d7a2b1c61217 Obviously I have no idea how many XBL chat servers there are but there is a clear pattern with some of them ending “989d”. I can only presume the ones not ending in that value are either XBL authentication or XBL party chat servers too. Please note that these were flagged in geo filter as blocked servers whilst on the Xbox dashboard and not in any game so must be related to XBL or party chat.
-
Still doesn’t work and still the same issue. With geo filter set to Spain and Italy only, if I create an XBL party on my own (and not even inviting or joining friends) it disconnects within a minute with “party encountered an error message”. When I look at geo filter when creating XBL chat party, I can see blocked servers in Amsterdam and Portarlington (Ireland) however it still disconnects and they are still blocked no matter how many times I allow them.
-
Ok will resync cloud geo filter and reset now, and test later today. Does it matter what version of DumaOS that I’m running? I’m currently on v3.3.142.
