That’s not how it works…ping is not king in this game due to other players connecting from further away with higher ping connections and lag compensation. As an example, if I play on UK servers with low ping I have more instances of shoot first die first, and you can clearly see what appears to be enemy characters being accelerated.

Those servers are 30-40ms for me, and are 50-70ms in game.

Like I said, having a lower ping than 50ms isn’t going to help you achieve that.

If you have a lot of devices in your house that are using internet then that’s when you need to use QoS…and I presume even more so if you’re also streaming. I also have many devices but when I’m gaming they are just idle rather than using bandwidth so QoS is pretty much pointless for me. Your ping sounds fine to me…and I actually connect to servers further away to make sure I have similar ping values as you mentioned.

I game. The Italy/Spain servers are about 35ms from my location in UK on heatmap.

Gaming only uses a fraction of your download and upload speeds so your connection is absolutely fine. What is more important is how stable your connection is in terms of ping, latency and packet loss. With regards to QoS, I’ve tested and found that having the sliders off works best for me.

Yes. They used different accounts with clear different KDs to see if SBMM made any difference…and it didn’t. Your last statement is just buying in to this ridiculous and unsubstantiated conspiracy theory.

TrueGameData and Xclusive Ace have both done videos on this dispelling the myth…obviously this doesn’t stop the community insisting that it’s a thing rather that plain old basic shit netcode.

Done some further testing and restricting the pool of players via local servers, fewer gametypes and crossplay off doesn’t really have that much effect. What I have found more often then not is that there would always be 1 or 2 high skill players on the other team, and you’re basically expended to carry a team if complete numpties…resulting in your team being steam rolled, struggling break even KD as the enemy players push through areas you wouldn’t normally expect them to, and losing more games than wins. Obviously the flip side of this coin does happen with you dominating other teams, but it’s certainly not a recipe for minimising SBMM. I’ll be going back to Spain and Italy servers for solo queuing.

I’ve been pretty much playing exclusively on Spain and Italy servers when I play solo MP (due to trying to get higher ping and shoot first, die first) but started testing UK only again today and I have to say that the lobbies felt possibly easier than what they used to in UK and what I’ve been used to playing on in Spain and Italy servers. This may be because I was playing with a low skilled friend but I noticed searching UK only takes a lot longer to find games so may be SBMM is struggling with just the one server to pick from. I only played for a couple of hours but will test further playing solo with fewer game modes selected and crossplay off.

We’re pretty much all in the same boat and you can’t do anything about SBMM…unless you do dodgy crap like reverse boosting. It’s come to the point that I can’t really play MP with my (lower skilled) friends as they get absolutely shit on when I play with them. If they play on their own or amongst themselves then they have fun and do quite well…when I join them, they’ll be 1-2 games where I destroy the lobby as it becomes a lot easier for me, however they struggle to go positive KD…then every game after that is total annihilation to the point where they no longer want to play. There is no doubt that SBMM protects lower skilled players as it is designed to do so, but the algorithms cannot handle groups of players with varying skill levels…and as such, it is an anti-social broken system if you can no longer play games with your friends. Fuck SBMM.

I have a feeling a lot of in game experience in MW2/WZ2 just comes down to the server you’re connected to and how hard SBMM has kicked in. I’ll have games where it feels crisp and playing against poor players, then games where I feel like I’m shooting marshmallows and everyone is a CDL pro wannabe. I haven’t found any settings that improve this other than avoiding UK/France servers as much as possible. In general, when playing solo I definitely get a better experience on Spain/Italy servers, but it can take a while to find games when playing with friends.

The shoot first die first issue has become really bad for me in the last few days particularly in Warzone. Nothing has changed my end, and is apparent on either UK, France, Spain or Italy servers.

Ok thanks. I’ll test with Classified then. I didn’t realise port 443 had anything to do with circumventing SBMM, but I can confirm that it definitely doesn’t work!

What rules or settings should I need to use to give it a go? From what you said, the DPI update relates to packets so that would suggest a TP rule is required (at the moment I don’t have any).

Using this guys recommended Dolby Atmos settings with Home Theatre setting in game, and it’s the best audio I’ve had with MW2 so far.

Before. I only just did what Liam suggested so I have no idea whether or not it has done the DPI update. I haven’t signed up for that early access.

I don’t see this preset. Is it part of the DPI update too?

Which TP rules should work best for MW2? I’ve tried DumaOS Classified, Games Console and a rule for port 443, but I dont notice any difference. If anything, the best results are when I had TP turned off.

Does this automatically negate the need for CC, BA and TP rules then if you have the DPI update?
