ThePhyter
I've posted about this before, but got no replies. I've tested this over a dozen times. When I have my phone connected to the WiFi, my phone will after 5 seconds turn on it's WiFi calling feature. When I enable Turbo mode on the R1, I reconnect my phone to the WiFi, but WiFI calling never turns on. Then almost immediately after I disable Turbo mode, my phone turns WiFi calling on. Just thought I'd share this so you're aware of this bug.
Xacebop
Are you using a voip for your landline? I have one of those, haven't got my router yet though. I'll let you know if I'm having the same problem most likely tomorrow
ThePhyter
No. I have Xfinity for TV, Internet, and Phone. I use Sprint for my mobile service.
Zennon
Can you make sure that the WiFi workaround is unticked in Misc settings. If it is some other bug wait for Fraser to comment who can pass this on to Iain.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted November 25, 2015 Administrators Share Posted November 25, 2015 Can you turn wifi calling on manually when it's on turbo mode?
ThePhyter
I can't just turn on WiFI calling manually. You enable the feature, and then once you connect to a WiFi network, after a few seconds, it will turn itself on. And I always keeps WiFi work-around disabled. Like I said, I have WiFi calling enabled. I connect to my R1's WiFi with Turbo mode enabled. WiFi calling will not enable. The instant I disable Turbo mode, WiFi calling turns on. Netduma Staff Netduma Crossy Posted November 28, 2015 Netduma Staff Share Posted November 28, 2015 Anything? Can anyone else confirm these happenings? Does the phone have an internet connection when it connects to the router when turbo mode is on?
ThePhyter
Yes, internet still works on WiFi while turbo mode is on. Just WiFi calling won't turn on. The instant turbo gets turned off, internet is still working, and then WiFi calling turns on.
ThePhyter
Months later. 1.03.6 experiences same problem. Turbo Mode off works fine. Turbo mode on and no wifi calling and I can't use my VPN software anymore, it never connects,
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted March 3, 2016 Administrators Share Posted March 3, 2016 When turbo turns on do you notice a decrease in wifi signal strength? What VPN provider are you with? What error are you getting?
ThePhyter
No, Wi-Fi signal strength does not decrease, it just immediately turns off Wi-Fi calling on my phone, and several other iPhones I've tested from friends and family. I have probably tested this 100 times over. And when Turbo mode is on, my IPVanish VPN Software, when I have it using the L2TP Protocal, it disconnects, and I can't re-enable the connection unless I change the protocal to OpenVPN. This has been the same case in 1.03.5m and 1.03.6g. I have never had any issues so far since I got this router last summer! But wanting to get my full 126 Mbps down and 24 Mbps up speeds I need to have Turbo Mode on, but that also means I have to change VPN Protocals and live without beautiful Wi-Fi calling. ThePhyter
Hey, I've been dealing with these problems for months and was wondering when you guys or if you'll look into these issues. OR at least try and help me out, because I'd like to be optimized and be able to make crystal clear phone calls without sacrifice.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted March 29, 2016 Administrators Share Posted March 29, 2016 I know there is an issue with the VPN with turbo&perhaps the reactive algorithm. Can you enable super turbo mode please and see if you have the same error.
ThePhyter
Super Turbo sucks. It's the same speeds I get without Turbo mode on. The only way it gives me my 126 down and 24 up is with just Turbo. Super Turbo does allow wifi calling to turn on.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted March 31, 2016 Administrators Share Posted March 31, 2016 Okay thats what I wanted to know. I believe it's the reactive algorithm that causes the wifi calling not to work correctly. Which is related to the IPSec issue someone else has when using the reactive algo. I know Iain will be looking in to it when he is able but no quick fix other than using preemptive algorithm - though you won't get full speeds or using super turbo but won't be able to use CC. ThePhyter
I appreciate it Fraser. I thought it might have something to do with the algorithm. Well I await the fix, I've waiting a long time to see where you guys are today. I can wait . Hopefully will get fixed by 2.0, can't wait for that! RagingCANE
I upgraded my connection to 100 down, 7 up last week and the router must have checked Turbo Mode. I have the exact same issue and after support calls and troubleshooting for 5 days I read this and find out it's turbo mode. I click it off and WiFi Calling works. However, my internet speed is slower/capped. Ugh! I need a fix soon or the Duma has to go.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted May 4, 2016 Administrators Share Posted May 4, 2016 You shouldn't need turbo mode for your speeds, ensure the following: Reactive Algorithm 100% anti-flood Share excess enabled Reset device prioritisation & apply Disable IPv6 in WAN, LAN & misc Disable deep packet in misc Ensure the ethernet cables you're using connecting the R1 to hub & R1 to PC are Cat5e+/can handle your speeds. Do a wired speed test from a PC
RagingCANE
I did that but I don't have the speeds with turbo mode off. I had to remove it from the network to get things up and running again. We work from home and I don't have time to troubleshoot so I removed the R1 as the main router. Now I have it plugged into a switch then directly into my PS4 but I can't access it from my browser now. My setup is: Modem > Airport Extreme > Network switch > R1 > PS4. It's fine that I can't use all of the features for now as long as I can do the host filtering but I can't access it at 192.168.88.1 even though I can see it on my network. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted May 5, 2016 Administrators Share Posted May 5, 2016 I believe you resolved this by ticking WAN in misc settings correct?
firebirdformula_rs
Did any one get a fix for this yet? I did all the step above and have the same issues, I can only use wifi calling with turbo off but it cuts my speeds in half????????? and i also have comcast and sprint for cell
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted July 25, 2016 Administrators Share Posted July 25, 2016 It will have to wait until the next upgrade for a fix now. What are your speeds?
