Zennon Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 lowset to higest ping is jitter just like a cmd promt. thats how i see it.If kevo is happy with that who am i to say. but 22ms jitter is the mean jitter without a doubt in the test kevo produced.

If kevo is happy with that who am i to say. but 22ms jitter is the mean jitter without a doubt in the test kevo produced. 22ms is the range of the pings Ping plotter who you linked to at the top of the page calculates it like this and thats what I was pointing out otherwise he would have two completely different for his jitter and it would be unclear as to whether there was a problem or not. There's probably multiple ways to calculate it
Zennon Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Max and min is jitter ( the range of pings )in my book why they would say any diff has made me now not trust them as a source, and wont be telling people to use them.

Well there's also this that shows the different causes of jitter and how they are calculated. It shows how both methods of calculating jitter have positive and negatives and that they can be misleading when there are different caused for the jitter.
Zennon Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 min and max should always be considered in calculating any mathematical sequence, anything else for me is bull.
Netduma Staff Netduma Crossy Posted August 9, 2015 Netduma Staff Posted August 9, 2015 min and max should always be considered in calculating any mathematical sequence, anything else for me is bull. But what if I ran a ping for the whole day and then there was one, just one spike to 2000ms when the rest was a steady 10ms. Then it would look like i have 1990ms jitter which would be quite misleading wouldn't it?
Zennon Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 yes thats why your 24h xbox live results were skewed, matches only last 10 mins tdm. same as a 24h is skewed over a few mins in this case. It has to be taken in to acount of a games playable time frame.

Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted August 11, 2015 Administrators Posted August 11, 2015 Is that a 54ms ping from the R1 to the second hop? Are you doing this test wired?
Netduma Staff Netduma Crossy Posted August 11, 2015 Netduma Staff Posted August 11, 2015 Is that a 54ms ping from the R1 to the second hop? Are you doing this test wired? That was just the maximum - the average was 2ms
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted August 11, 2015 Administrators Posted August 11, 2015 That was just the maximum - the average was 2ms Ahh cheers, the formatting made me super worried haha
AOrtiz Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 I was wireless but saw the jitter. I'll try hardwire
