sidestep6
The issue is this isn't just one device as when looking at the mac addresses they are different just tested it again and it's not only the dormant device that comes back the bandwidth limits from another time comes back as well. like it doesn't save current settings to the modem anymore since it was upgraded to 1.03.6, also the dormant device was a wireless ap so it was multiple devices connecting through one device, not that it matters it still no longer connected to the router but it and certain settings come back from a previous time. sharpz44
Just found this thread as I created a new one in relation to this, resetting a router is not good for dslam stability, hence why I will not do it ,you should really be able to click delete and then get asked if sure you want to Yes/No, maybe this should be implemented in the next upgraded. Thanks
MannyQ
Hi You can delete if device does not have an IP address. The issue is when a device connects and then disconnects, the router does not see that the device is no longer connected so it stays on the list and the only way you can then delete it is by resetting the router. For example if a friend comes over with his iphone and connects to the router it gets and assigned IP address. They then leave and are no longer in the house and or location for the wireless to pick up the iphone. Within the device manager it still shows as connected with an assigned IP, with no actual red line connection in the device manager, when you try to delete it states you cant as its still active. Thats really annoying. My issue is slightly different as in that i am just getting hundreds of unnamed devices without a assigned ip address in the device manager which means i have to go and delete hundreds of them and this is intermittent . sharpz44
Yep, I read the thread and see your issue, also yes that's what I am seeing also,I think it's something to do with IP assignment, however there should be an option to delete without resetting the R1, I know about dslam issues with resets even though modem will stay connected the dslam sees it as a disconnect from your ISP and if disconnecting to often it will then think you have collision issues and will slow down speeds and put on interleaved to fix the issues, even though there are not any ..lol...stupid thing, that's why I will never disconnect, actuall I had to turn house power off twice and when I was using the Netgear as main, stats dropped from 80meg to 77meg for two days then back up.your issue is very strange with all those Unknown devices, hope you get that sorted out.
