GeoFilter doesn't work majority of the time it keeps trying to place me on servers outside my radius with every game i play on pc. I also keep losing internet in my house all the time. It's been almost 3-4 months with this router R3 and it's has been NOTHING but headaches! For the LOVE of GOD can we please get an actual update with what's been on the works for the new firmware? I've been nothing, but patience. Please! please! Btw I tried all methods to fix these issues above! I just want a NEW firmware to finally fix the current issues we all been dealing with for the past months!

Are you even adding each individual game into the geo filter and attaching your pc to it? This has to be done for each individual game from my understanding. Also the geo latency option has to be unchecked or it will still connect to outside servers in your circle or fence.

Now the disconnects I can’t say I’ve experienced anything like that on the newer firmwares and only happened a couple times on the old firmwares. So yeah if that’s happening that’s a problem but tbh I don’t think a lot of you know how some of the features are designed to work or just aren’t selecting the correct settings. Like the geo latency for example that’s been advised multiple times on the forums you can be connected to outside servers in your circle but yet I still see multiple posts of it happening and they have it selected. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

yeah it needs some fixes but it’s not as bad as people are letting on and I get better hit detection then any router I’ve ever used including. The r1, r2, XR500, xr1000, and a damn Asus Rog rapture that was like $500 bucks.

I'm with @x12Tyler on this, I can't see why there are so many issues with geofilter. On latest version with geo latency off and a polygon drawn around my nearest servers it always connects to one of them. As i've said before I think some of these issues are with the game developers, VPN use,  matchmaking within the game for example will trump any router settings. I can connect to my local server but I can't stop other players connecting to that server too.

You need to set a filter per device, per game as I understand it and ideally have only one activated (maybe). Resync the cloud from time to time and if you make any changes to the Geofilter close down your games first and then restart after you have made the changes.

If steady ping adds too much ping then turn it off. But if you are connecting to your nearest server this shouldnt be an issue, or use expert mode to limit how much ping is increased if that works better.

Some of yawl got to look up some YouTube video's because I haven't really experienced any issues, and if you are playing over WIFI, you should really give up gaming lol

My wife is the only one in our house that plays on WiFi just because I haven’t ran the 50 foot cord from the router to her PlayStation since  I have it in my gaming room right next to me and hers is across the house and she still don’t experience that many issues on Fortnite besides the occasional higher then normal ping with the yellow/red x that comes up which I’ve seen happen even through lan.

Was reading through the replies and yes, you are right, that’s optimal. Even then, in particular cases, Wifi could be better, especially with the 2.4 connection (I get 100mbps on it or less, no tweaks matter, meanwhile 5ghz gets more than 700).Fraser has said they are going to improve, and I have seen others saying they have this specific issue too. But in general, don’t get me wrong, the R3 is really amazing (for me a heavy tinkerer) it’s almost flawless, and for it to be like this for me so early on, just means it can only get better from here 👍🏻

Yeah but you don’t get an r3 for wifi performance if you want something like that get an Asus Rog rapture which I also have, has like 8 antennas and great wifi performance as well as good gaming performance. You should be getting the r3 specifically for the gaming features it brings.

They have to be playing on WiFi with lots of interference, maybe even using 2.4ghz band..personally if I had to use WiFi for gaming I would not connect to the netduma r3..  I would go buy a WiFi 7 router and use it only in access point mode connected to the r3. I can’t recommend using 5ghz band for gaming. WiFi 6e or the 6ghz band has much better latency, less interference and more stable latency than 2.4 and 5ghz

if you are trying to hardcore game using Wi-Fi, therein lies your problem. There is ALWAYS going to be more latency with a wireless connection. I know not everyone can hardwire to all rooms of where they live but you have to make that consideration before you buy any router. The R3's Wi-Fi performance is not exactly stellar but it is a big step up from the R2.

I second that definitely a big upgrade in wifi performance from the R2

Yea when running wireless expect the worst.. especially if you have multiple wireless devices connected.. for competitive gaming you need wired everything. It’s definitely better WiFi vs the netduma r2 but I just can’t recommend playing time sensitive games on WiFi

Its really quite easy with wifi power line adapter. Just plug it into your wall sockets, its going to be more reliable than wifi for gaming. I only use wifi for phones etc and a playstation that is near enough to avoid dropouts. Also have your R3 as high up as you can and place it away from other electrical equipment.

@Stilts29 I've tried everything. Ive tried all methods to fix these issues specifically when it comes to the Geo-Filter and it still wants to connect me outside my circle. I don't use steady ping.

My R3 never dropped internet or anything like this but I do have issues with the Geo filter that's about it. I did factory reset it a couple of times and tried different firmware but nothing fixes the geo filter for me so I'm just stuck with 0.41 and waiting for next update hopefully then the Geo filter will be reliable and work.

Really sorry you guys are still having issues with getting connected outside the geofilter. Just a couple of things you may want to try, ignore if you've already considered them:

  • Are you using polygon to mark out your server area?
  • Are you sure that there is a server to connect to within the boundary you set? I notice that on some games the local server is not always available and it will go outside the geo fence.
  • Also SBMM employed on games like Destiny 2 and MW3 will connect you servers outside the geofence if there are not enough players connected to servers within the area to connect to.
  • Definitely turn off Geo Latency if haven't already. This helped greatly for me.

If you still have issues I am sure the guys will get it fixed soon.

You are right indeed.

I haven’t really seen it happen. I’m in Portugal, covering spain and Oklahoma on Polygon mode with Geo Latency off. If Ping assist is at 0 you are just going to connect to what you set it up to.
