DeeKay_FPS
Unfortunately I can't connect my fiber optic directly to R3 and it comes with an ISP provided router. Everything works fine except for the fact I have a moderate NAT type in games and I got kicked out of my COD games while palying few times. I went through the forum posts and tried to set up static IP for my R3 but I couldnt. I don't know what these options are and I have only my R3 IP and Mac. 1.Destination 2.Subnet Mask 3.Network 4.Gateway 5.Metric

Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 9 Administrators Share Posted January 9 You're making a static route not a static IP. Static IP will be in LAN settings, should be much easier. When you've done that put the IP into the DMZ function on your ISP modem/router and that should sort it.

DeeKay_FPS
Please have a look at the above mentioned screen shots. I've added my R3 IP and mac in Lan settings and also added it into router DMZ settings. But I still have moderate NAT type in COD. Is there anything I can do here. I've also added my PC IP in R3 Dmz . Enabled Upnp in R3 and ISP router.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 9 Administrators Share Posted January 9 That looks good, though disable UPnP on the ISP router. Also disable DMZ on the R3, it's a big security risk having the PC in it. Once you've done that reboot the ISP router, wait a few minutes then reboot the R3, wait a few minutes and it should work. If not you'll likely need to do some port forwarding on the R3.
DeeKay_FPS
I've followed all the steps you've mentioned and even created port forwarding in R3. But I still have moderate NAT type. Is there anything that I can do here

If you have correctly entered the IP of R3 in the DMZ of your ISP router, with that rule you should have nat open yes or yes. Aren't you by any chance using a VPN on your computer? DeeKay_FPS
So after multiple resets/changes/reboots this is what worked for me. I had to : 1.enable UPNP in my ISP router 3.disable UPNP in R3 3.DMZ my computer IP in R3 4.Open the below mentioned ports in R3 i.e 1-65535 Now that we know the issue , does this leave my computer vulenrable ? Is there anything that I can do here to solve this issue. Obviously this looks like an Issue in R3. Please share your thoughts and suggestions. Fuzy
Yes ! it is very strongly recommended. Keep the R3 in the main router's DMZ. delete the rules and the dmz from the pc and reactivate the upnp of the R3. Generally, simply restarting the main router and the PC will give you NAT open for games! Fairypusher

Which makes me worried since my computer could be at a security risk. I'm really not sure what I can do to mitigate or resolve the problem. Much appreciate everyone's reply. Fuzy
Do the steps I mentioned, often the main router needs to be restarted for the changes to take effect! In any case, moderate NAT is not a problem for gaming... And it's preferable to exposing your PC!

Just adding the R3's IP in ISP's modem DMz did not help. I hope I'm wording these correctly. Incase you wanna see the screen shot of both my R3 and ISP router I'm happy to share it here. Fuzy
Everything looks correct on the isp and R3 side! according to your first screenshots, I also had the case and simply restarting the ISP worked for me!😉 Is there software on the PC that could block NAT? Have you authorized the game in the PC firewall rules?
DeeKay_FPS
Yes , Done all of those. Even reset the network settings twice.

Zippy
Hey @DeeKay_FPS Ive even looked over this as well and dont know why its not working using port forwarding.. The thing about putting your PC in the DMZ is it exposes alot of possible risk.. If this is just a gaming PC one could possibly leave it like that.. But if you have any personal info on this PC like credit card info or anything at all I would not use DMZ at all.. Personally I wouldnt use the DMZ feature at all other then to do testing and trouble shooting.. Are you using like the Xbox live app on this PC to play games or anything else like that? Thanks! Zippy.

Heres the thing.. There has to be a port that is being missed in port forwarding or something like that.. If you can get an Open NAT using the DMZ feature you should be able to get Open NAT using Port Forwarding.. Just by you putting your PC in the DMZ has kind of pointed that out now.. We just have to figure out what ports your missing.. Your not using the Xbox app on your computer to play this game are you by chance? The only reason I mention this is because you likely would have to port forward port 3544 as well in order to get an Open NAT.. Thanks! Zippy. If I turn off DMZ in R3 , I get NAT type as Moderate in COD. As you can see I used 1-65535 range for both TDP and UDP and Ofcourse DMZ is active for my computer. SP_25
I had a similar situation. You could check to see if your ISP router has a bridge / passthrough mode. Once I changed my ISP router to IP passthrough mode and power cycled everything, I had an Open NAT and did not have to do any port forwarding or change other settings on the R3. Perhaps you have a different setup / ISP, but figured I would mention since it worked for me.
