upnp won't work for cod pc

Recommended Posts

This is true for me as well.  So like alot of the other features on this router the experts on this forum say if its not working "just turn it off", so I have turned it off as well after a few weeks of it not working.  I'm super glad that I haven't lost my sense of humor over all this because that would be a shame.  Truth is this has been super humorous to me.  All these features I bought the router for and I've disabled most of them because they don't work for the one game I bought the router for (Call of Duty).  So basically I have a nice router that does basically all that other routers do, but this one does have really pretty lights on top of it!!!!!   :)

By not working, do you mean on the game you're not getting an open NAT or that port rules aren't shown on the page or both?

in response, to Fraser:

I am always at a moderate NAT since I got this router.  I am by no means an expert, so I could be misunderstanding.  But it seems to me that UPnP is supposed to open the right ports so that games just have an open NAT thanks to it "plug and play" nature.  Am I understanding that correctly?  and by the way, thanks for the work that you do.  It doesn't escape me how difficult your job is to deal with people who have something that they want fixed and you seem to take the brunt of peoples irritation.  Keep up the good work!!!!

Did you place the IP of R3 in the DMZ of the ISP router?
I play Cod on PC and I never have problems with upnp, it always opens the NAT correctly

I am still figuring out how to respond to something someone said, but here goes.... titofuenla said something about an ISP router..... I have the modem from my ISP and then my router.  thats it!  the router controls all the wifi and the hard wired (cat6) computers in the house

ok, I was able to do the factory reset after updating the firmware to v4.0.23

I have played two games MW3 multiplayer

1st game it said "couldn't ping server" this was the Oklahoma server and I had 72 ping

2nd game it again said "couldn't ping server" this was the Georgia server at 108 ping

(An observation:  the call of duty algorithm is working, if you play a game and you don't get completely destroyed the next game will have a higher ping and this proved true.)

Last thing to report is is that UPnP still hasn't gotten me an open NAT.

So in recap, I did the firmware update and the factory reset and then the neseccary modem power-cycle reboot followed by the power-cycle reboot of the R3 to get wifi to work again.  Unless I'm missing something, I am back where I started and I have spend half a day......

I was so hopeful that this would work!  and now I am back to feeling stupid for buying three routers and none of them have done what was advertised.  and I am again feeling sarcastic, maybe I need a tee-shirt that says NetDuma DumaOS on the front and on the back it says "the joke is on me"

Please help me solve this.

I have had both of those disabled for a week now.

Continuing with my testing to see if the warzone servers are working as far as the software pinging the server that I am playing on, after two games of solo warzone, neither of them could ping the server and give me a graph..... this is disappointing.

The first game was played on the Los Angeles host and I had a 60 ping and still a moderate nat

sure enough the second game is going to be a higher ping as far as the net code for call of duty matchmaking goes because I had around 5 eliminations in the game.  if you don't get absolutely destroyed, you will get a higher ping the next game, or at least that seems to be a rule after a lot of observation

The second game I played on a Georgia server and the ping was 94 also with a moderate NAT

I try not to be a completely negative person when having to bring bad news (things are still not working :( ) so I will admit that both of those games the hit registration felt good and these games didn't feel like I was playing in some kind of time warp buffer where every player was at server state and in was in my time warp buffer easily getting powned because they could always see me first and so I lost the gunfight because the TTK is so fast.

So in recap:

Neither the UPnP not the Steady Ping visualization seem to be working

In spite of the steady ping visualization no  working, the ping seems to be steady

so the question remains, Did I buy the router to steady my ping, or did I buy it to steady my ping AND show me a graph of it steadying my ping?

I will now test some fortnite games and see if the steady ping visualization works there or not......   I'll be back after some testing

I’ve never seen the steady ping visualization graph working either. I’ve played at least 50 matches in Call of Duty. I think it’s bugged. But mine does say that my ping is stabilized

We are aware of some UPnP issues so that will be resolved, in the meantime utilizing port forwarding should allow you to get an open NAT. Also, If your ISP modem/router has WiFi, set it up so that it is in bridge or modem mode, you can also use the DMZ. Copy the WAN IP from the R3 (found in Settings > WAN) and enter it into the DMZ function on the ISP modem/router.

Steady Ping can stabilize a game when you're unable to ping a server so both don't need to be happening for it to work. If you're playing on a console, try this, remove the console from the Geo-Filter and in the Device Manager change it to a PC then re-add it to the Geo-Filter, does it work better then?

I looked at my modem.  It is an EU2251 from Spectrum, It is just a modem, it has no wireless capabilities.  I am gaming on a PC, is there a possible issue if the same PC that is gaming is running the DumaOS software on a chrome browser on the second monitor?

Also,  I did play quite a few Fortnite matches and for all of them the Steady Ping feature worked.  So my problems have been with Call of Duty games.

No that wouldn't be the case, if you port forward it should work fine while we work on UPnP

I wouldn't have thought so but it is possible

On Call of Duty PC to get open NAT via UPNP I switched my connection to private and not public to allow sharing. Then by clicking on the properties of the Duma R3 I shared the ports I needed, in this way I was able to view UPNP working in R3

@Netduma Frasercan you send me the .16 firmware? It seems like the previous versions work better.

I don't know how .16 was downgraded to, to be honest, I don't even have that file but I can send .17 which I have done - wouldn't recommend it though
